THE SEVEN BODIES — OR FIELDS, OR DIMENSIONS.
According to the septenary conception, the Spirit-Man is composed of two distinct strata: the Divine Triad, constituted by the "Christic I," and the "Inferior Quaternary," linked to the personality and which is mutable like it. In these strata, each series or body has a denomination and distinct characteristics, specific functions and manifestations limited to the field or dimension to which it is linked, since each of these bodies vibrates in a distinct dimensional universe.

THE PHYSICAL BODY.
The physical body is the fleshy outer cover (envelope) in which we live—something similar to a diving suit: heavy and almost cumbersome, which we use to act in the physical environment.
It is composed of chemical compounds that are cleverly manipulated by the phenomenon called life.
In fact, there is life in each of these chemical elements. Everything inside us is life. We exist with our major life seated in a compound of a myriad of smaller lives that organize this compound.
As our body is made of Matter, it operates with ease in the physical environment since the body and the environment belong to the same electromagnetic dimension.

THE ETHERIC BODY.
As the name indicates, this body is of an extremely tenuous structure. It is invisible because it is diaphanous, of dense electromagnetic nature, but its wave length is superior to that of ultra-violet light. This is why the etheric body is easily disassociated by ultra-violet light when it is exuded by the physical body. We can say that it is quintessential, almost reaching immortality.
The physiological equilibrium reflects the harmony that prevails in the cosmos—the function of the etheric body is to establish health automatically, without interference of consciousness. While it distributes vitalizing vitamins to the physical body, this equilibrium makes sure that the vital functions stay in balance and that the corporeal set maintains its harmonic equilibrium. In this way the physiological equilibrium promotes the cicatrization of wounds, the cure of localized diseases, etc.
We should really think about the importance of the energetic structure that, although, it is not known by medicine, Eppur si muovo.
Functioning as a plastic mediator between the astral body (the rougher body of the spirit) and the physical body, the body or etheric double is of material nature: it belongs to the domain of the flesh-man. There are people who confound the etheric double with the astral body, calling it, simply, "double." To make the differentiation and still avoid confusion, we always add the specification "etheric" to the word "body" when we refer to the "double."
Etheric Diseases. A great number of diseases that are considered settled in the human body, in reality have their seat in the anatomic substratum of the etheric organization. It is from there that they pass to the somatic body, where they appear as vital dysfunctions. This fact, only one among others, deserves the special attention of medical scientists because it opens fields for investigation which have not yet been explored by lenses and scalpels.
This research, however, does not even get the attention of spiritists, because almost all of them are tied by the excessive amplitude of the conception of "perispirit." At the moment, they do not know anything (and they are not even interested in knowing anything) about the physiology of the etheric body. It is surprising to see how close they are, in this respect, to materialists and others (including some scientists).

THE ASTRAL BODY.
In the second century of our era, Origenes, philosopher of the neo-Platonic School, taught that the spirit had a vaporous body, the "aura." In the 4th century, Saint Cyril of Jerusalem said: 'The soul of the dead have subtler bodies than the terrestrial bodies. The name spirit is generic and common: everything that does not have a dense and heavy body is a spirit." At the same time, Saint Hilary of Poitiers stated: "There is nothing in Nature or in Creation, be it in the sky, be it on the Earth, be it among visible things, be it among invisible things, that is not corporeal. Even the souls, be it during life, be it after death, keep some corporeal substance, because it is necessary that everything that was created, has to be in something."
All thinkers of the primitive church made a distinction, as Saint Paul of Tarsus did, between the spirit (pneuma) and the intermediate soul (psyche) and the rough physical body, (soma). John of Thessalonica, in the second Council of Nicaea, declared: "The angels, archangels and also the souls are really spirituals, but not deprived of a body. They are endowed with a tenuous, ethereal, igneous body."9
This soul—of which so many authors of the past demonstrated a surprising knowledge —received the generic name, "perispirit," from Kardec. This denomination comprises several subtle bodies, even the etheric one, although it is physical. For Kardec "soul" and "spirit" are, therefore, synonyms. For us "soul" and "perispirit" should be synonyms—both expressions designate the covering set of the spirit, from the astral body to the others that are subtler bodies (with an obvious exception of the etheric body). It is advisable to have this conceptual difference always in mind, to avoid future distortions in the understanding of the subject of this book. Everything makes us believe that the "soul" to which these and other sages refer, is really the astral body.
A Bridge Between the Physical & the Astral.
It is through the etheric structure that the volatile acts, desires, emotions, and any manifestation of the superior consciousness act upon the physical body, or more precisely on the physical brain.
The etheric structure promotes the necessary frequency degradation between the spiritual field of the astral and the physical field.
The most spectacular actuation of the etheric double occurs during sessions of physical effects. This kind of work is quite rare, and depends on the assistant's and operator's special care and preparation.
For a spirit to become materialized—to be touched, felt, weighed, etc.—it is necessary that its spiritual form be covered by material substance. This substance—ectoplasm—comes from the etheric double of a donor medium. The ectoplasm is exuded by the pores and natural cavities. At the beginning it is a kind of heavy, dense gas, that little by little is condensed, takes a viscous, plastic form and covers the communicating spirit, until it takes the shape of the body that the spirit had when it was incarnate. With this new body, that is, the counterpart of its astral body, the disincarnated can remain among living beings for some minutes: it listens, speaks, walks, touches and can be touched, as if it were a common living person. In the last century, the well-known scientist William Crookes, over two consecutive years, investigated the materialization of the spirit Katie King. It was a classic case and caused justified repercussions for two reasons: the indisputable credibility of Crookes and the assent of the spirit to undergo scientific researches.
In common mediumistic phenomena—much less the spectacular—the importance of this mediator almost does not appear: it is not touchable. Without it, however, communication between the astral and the physical fields would be impossible because a bridge is missing: every communicating spirit that acts, tied to a medium, has to use this intermediary phase of frequency that permits the resounding coupling with the nervous system of the medium to the modulation of the spirit's thought and its expression through psychography, psychophony and other means.
THE MENTAL BODY.
The mental body is the vehicle that uses the cosmic "I" to manifest itself as a concrete and abstract intellect; it is in this body that the will gets transformed into action, subsequent to choosing the volitional act. It is a field of elaborated reasoning, from which the powers of mind, the phenomena of cognition, memory, and the evaluation of our acts, surge because it is the seat of the manifested active consciousness. While physical sensibility and emotions flow from the astral body, the mental vehicle can be considered the source of the intellect.
In a certain way, the mental body is still an inferior covering, because it is a consequence of these phenomena or functions that conventionally are called "intellect." Only on superior levels of consciousness—where the virtues that result from affective love for all beings are present at their highest degree—the highest spirituality, which is our essence—can manifest itself.
**Concrete Mental Body & Abstract Mental Body.**This field, body or dimension of the Spirit-Man can be divided in two, for a better
understanding:
— Concrete mental body, also called the inferior mental body: it deals with simple, quite objective perceptions, e.g., the ones of material objects, people, houses, vehicles, etc.;
— Abstract mental body, causal body or superior mental body: it elaborates and structures principles and abstract ideas ad infinitum; it is the process responsible for scientific and technological advances, and also for our entire philosophic foundation.
Examples:
— The perception of a cube through our senses (getting to know the size, color, edges, weight, smell, taste, or the sound that it makes when it drops on the floor or when it comes in contact with another object) are typical functions of the concrete mental body or inferior mental body. It registers what is outside the skin and impresses our nervous system.
—The evaluation of volume, area, weight and properties of this same cube, by comparing it with other similar objects or through more sophisticated methods; the formulation of geometric theories, relating symbols and laws: these are some typical functions of the superior mental body.
**The Aura — Mental Projections;**The mental body has an approximately ovoid form that involves the physical body. Its
peripheral portions constitute the aura, and the aura is of varied color and size according to the frequency of the vibratory fields generated by thoughts. It is easy for clairvoyants to perceive what is going on in the minds of people: good thoughts are of light, crystalline, brilliant colors; the inferior ones (hatred, envy, vengeance, etc.), are of dark, dense and unpleasant colors. The aura, consequently, reveals the tonic note of the mental field of a person. The mental Energy can be projected into Space, by means of structures known as thought forms. They consist of an energy nucleus that has its form modeled by the mind that projects it, they can harm or benefit a person, according to the will of the person who creates it—consciously or unconsciously. The negative ones take the form of darts, arrows, projectiles, or turbid fields, for example. The positive ones, more efficient, take the form that the operator wants them to have; we can, for instance, use the mental energy also to benefit disincarnated spirits, by cleaning and dressing them and giving them food, with the objective of improving their spiritual conditions.
The natural field of this Energy is the mental field. When projected, this Energy normally acts first on the mental field or body of other beings, and from there it goes— already converted to psychomotor actions—to the astral end etheric bodies or fields. However, if it is projected with emotions, the lower (and more negative) the vibratory frequency of the emotions, the darker and murkier will be the magnetic masses that cover this Energy. In these cases, where the generation of thought-forms is included, the emitted mental energy will reach first and directly the astral body of the target person, from there it goes to the etheric body and then to the physical one.
Thoughts are life power—we should never forget this. The energy that they project is proportional to the potency of the mind and to the will power of the emitter.

THE BUDDHIC BODY.
There is almost nothing to be said about the vibratory structure (or field, body or dimension), closest to the spirit. This body is so distant from our physical standards, and from our means of expression, that it is not possible to compare it by describing it. It is possible to say that buddhi is the perispirit according to the etymological acceptance of the word: it is the first vibratory structure that, by involving the spirit, demonstrates it in an active way.
However, a short time ago, we were allowed to discover an interesting property of this structure that can be used, and in a very practical way, in the treatment of the incarnated and disincarnated (since both are, first of all, spirits).
As this body is timeless (as the superior mental body is, too), we used the technique to reach this superior dimension of people, as a starting point to scrutinize their pasts. In this way we could detect anomalous situations, very painful events, deeply rooted in time, in the extremely tenuous stratum of a hidden past that happened at very remote times.
We said extremely tenuous stratum; but this does not mean that it is inactive.
According to the Cosmic Law—as enunciated in the sentence: "...your sin will find you out." (Numbers 32:23)—any kind of disharmony provoked by a conscious being will vibrate in the transgressor's consciousness until the abnormality—including both the causes and the consequences—is totally dissolved. As any disharmonic act has life power, the psychic environment of the agent of the perturbation presents the tonic note of disharmony.
As we have already exhaustively observed, in such cases the person loses the greatest good of the spirit—PEACE. He suffers quite a lot, he considers himself an unpardonable sufferer, a sensation that denotes a deep rooting of the consciousness disease that, quite often, has affected numerous existences.
This kind of deep suffering can only be relieved or solved through the dissolution of the disharmonic foci. And this, as far as we know, can be achieved in two ways. One is the spiritual elevation of the transgressor, awakening to a life full of love and being good to those next to one; the other one is the use of specific techniques, with the projection of manipulated energies by capable operators.

THE ATMIC BODY OR THE ESSENCE- SPIRIT.
Is there any way to define That Thing which, by definition, transcends symbols and words?
Through millennia and successive civilizations, any attempt to describe what we designate by "spirit" is considered incomplete because of the inefficacy of words.
The concepts of Vedic Philosophy continue to be enlightening due to their transparency. According to the Vedas, the One and Universal Being—Brahma (The Non- manifested), transcendent and eternal—becomes immanent in his temporary action, when he manifests himself. The beings that he emanates, contain his essence, in the same way as the thinker is in his thoughts. The absolute, the universal, is manifested in each individualized being, even in the very small ones, exactly because it is absolute, and, therefore, escapes human understanding, it transcends whatever exists.
This omnipresent absolute, manifested and manifesting in each being, is called Atman or Spirit. The pure atmic "body" or "Spirit," this Cosmic I constitutes the Divine Essence in each created being. We are all identical to God in the sense of Being (Essence), but different from Him in the sense of "exist": God does not "exist"; God Is eternally present.
It could not have been for any other reason that Jesus said; "You *are Gods."*Once a guru taught his disciple, who was feeling depressed facing the difficulties of
existence, the following:
You have to see yourself as you really are: a spirit with terrestrial clothes. The real person, the 'I' that you are, is not your body, in the same way as I am not in my body—that is something fragile and suffering. We are immortal and divine spirits. Strong and indestructible. Always trying to get better, to improve, to purify our qualities. At the moment we are on mission here on Earth; we do not know what the mission is, but it will undoubtedly be for our best.

Unfolding Phenomena.
Under certain circumstances, artificial or natural, the astral body can separate from the physical body, by taking with it all the other coverings and even its own spirit. This normally happens while the person is asleep, when he loses consciousness and the vital functions are lowered to a minimum level necessary for metabolic exchanges.
Many sensitives can easily get out of their bodies, in spontaneous trances. But this can also happen to common people, in pathological or special occasions, as for instance, a strong emotional shock, debility due to long periods of sickness, voluminous hemorrhaging, surgical shocks and other traumatic conditions. People can go to distant places, they can describe these places, evaluate their actions and those of others, they can have physical sensations, everything in perfectly conscious conditions—thanks to the connection with the physical brain, through the silver string.
The Silver Cord.
The spirit remains attached to the body, independently of its distance from the body, by means of the silver string. Even the Bible mentions it:
Or ever the silver cord be loosed,or the golden bowl be broken,or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
If it gets torn up, however, death occurs. It is irreversible.

— Ecclesiastes 12:6
According to the reports of spirits, when superior entities tear up this string, the moment a person dies, there is a lightning of great intensity, produced by the liberation of Energy.
This luminous and brilliant string, constituted by some form of high intensity energy, is tied to the physical body by the etheric double, in which it is rooted by the head and by a myriad of filial connections that involve the etheric structure. It could be compared to a cable of high tension if it were not inconceivably ductile: it can achieve the greatest thinness, thus allowing the spirit of a living person to escape from the physical body (and from the etheric) on astral trips of millions of kilometers. It does not break and maintain the spirit as the owner and guide of the body: through a marvelous process that has not been explained so far: all vital functions of our bodies are preserved.
Apometric Unfolding.
The spirit can get away from the physical body in a more efficient way by imposition of a magnetic nature, when commanded by a trained person. This is the basis of Apometrics— the main subject of this book. It is a widely used technique in the treatment of incarnated and disincarnated spirits. This phenomenon, which we call "apometric unfolding," opened the doors for our systematic investigations of the astral dimension, a real universe, parallel to ours.
We realized that, after some time, the sensitives trained in the apometric unfolding, acquire such consciousness of their potentialities and limitations that they move in that dimension as if they were on the physical plane. They go to other places, sometimes very far away, to work, help, assist incarnated or disincarnated spiritually sick people to whom they give inestimable aid.

Properties & Functions of the Astral Body.
The ease of getting separated from the physical body is a characteristic of the astral body. It is immaterial and of magnetic nature, it does not have a fluid constitution as the etheric double does, neither does it form materialized objects, because its nature is completely different from Matter. However, it can easily be molded by the action of mental power. This property is helpful in treatment techniques of sick, crippled, mutilated or injured spirits, that still suffer from the diseases that caused their death. But we can affirm in advance, that all of them are recomposed in their natural form and high physiological state through the projection of healing Energy that is mentally emitted by the operator (energetic pulses, commanded in slow counting, usually up to seven or ten).
One of the most important functions of the astral body is sensitivity. We know that it resides in this field or body; the physical body only transmits received stimuli; the record of painful or pleasant sensations is up to the structure. Vices are of a psychic nature exactly due to this fact; their origin is in the astral: it is the astral that feels. For this reason we take our vices and passions with us when we die; if it were otherwise, there would be no reason for the disincarnated to go on suffering physical pains, or carry painful deformations with them—as has been verified in spiritual sessions.
Sensation is the roughest form of feelings. It is primary, instinctive. Emotion is much more complex, it is linked to desire; it can be exacerbated until it reaches the abnormality of passion. We cannot forget that sensations, like emotions, are very important states of our consciousness, since they give color and power to our acts.
Our biggest struggle—fighting against ourselves, which favors our evolution— consists precisely in restraining, controlling and dominating desires, feelings and, mainly, passions. From the instinctive and animal impulses, such as hunger, thirst, sexual desire, up to higher feelings, as for example loving our fellow creatures, solidarity, friendship, affection, tenderness, etc., or the unrestrained passions of possession, power and concupiscence, all the emotions and desires manifest themselves in the astral world. Through evolution, feelings and sentiments go from the astral to the other levels of consciousness that are peculiar to superior spirits.

Food & "Death" of the Astral Body.
Our astral body constantly loses Energy, needing, therefore, an energy supply for its sustenance, similar to feeding the physical body. But the nature of this food varies very greatly; it goes from protein broth for the more materialized spirits, provided by the astral assistance stations, to quintessential energies that feed the superior spirits, which are gathered (through prayers) directly from the infinite reservoir of cosmic energy.
The spirits that inhabit the inferior astral, that are still rather brutalized (animalized), used to eat even human food. If there is a loss of energies without the necessary replenishment, which can happen due to passions, the spirit can lose its astral body and be reduced to an inactive ovoid, according to what André Luiz reports.
The normal means to lose this body, however, is through evolution; in the same way we lose our physical body when we die, we also lose the astral body. The spirits that are more evolved, and do not have this body anymore, cannot be seen by the rougher inhabitants of this plane—as we mentioned before.
In summary, evolution takes us farther and farther from the dense organizations that are a trait of Matter, until we abandon them completely. Involution, on the other hand, can also take away this body—exactly in the same way as one loses the physical body, due to vices and passions.

2020.09.25 03:32 Better_Poetry_ History of Educational Technology

There is no written evidence which can tell us exactly who has coined the phrase educational technology. Different educationists, scientists and philosophers at different time intervals have put forwarded different definitions of Educational Technology. Educational technology is a multifaceted and integrated process involving people, procedure, ideas, devices, and organization, where technology from different fields of science is borrowed as per the need and requirement of education for implementing, evaluating, and managing solutions to those problems involved in all aspects of human learning.
Educational technology, broadly speaking, has passed through five stages.
The first stage of educational technology is coupled with the use of aids like charts, maps, symbols, models, specimens and concrete materials. The term educational technology was used as synonyms to audio-visual aids.
The second stage of educational technology is associated with the 'electronic revolution' with the introduction and establishment of sophisticated hardware and software. Use of various audio-visual aids like projector, magic lanterns, tape-recorder, radio and television brought a revolutionary change in the educational scenario. Accordingly, educational technology concept was taken in terms of these sophisticated instruments and equipments for effective presentation of instructional materials.
The third stage of educational technology is linked with the development of mass media which in turn led to 'communication revolution' for instructional purposes. Computer-assisted Instruction (CAI) used for education since 1950s also became popular during this era.
The fourth stage of educational technology is discernible by the individualized process of instruction. The invention of programmed learning and programmed instruction provided a new dimension to educational technology. A system of self-learning based on self-instructional materials and teaching machines emerged.
The latest concept of educational technology is influenced by the concept of system engineering or system approach which focuses on language laboratories, teaching machines, programmed instruction, multimedia technologies and the use of the computer in instruction. According to it, educational technology is a systematic way of designing, carrying out and evaluating the total process of teaching and learning in terms of specific objectives based on research.
Educational technology during the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age Educational technology, despite the uncertainty of the origin of the term, can be traced back to the time of the three-age system periodization of human prehistory; namely the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age.
Duringthe Stone Age, ignition of fire by rubbing stones, manufacture of various handmade weapon and utensils from stones and clothing practice were some of the simple technological developments of utmost importance. A fraction of Stone Age people developed ocean-worthy outrigger canoe ship technology to migrate from one place to another across the Ocean, by which they developed their first informal education of knowledge of the ocean currents, weather conditions, sailing practice, astronavigation, and star maps. During the later Stone Age period (Neolithic period),for agricultural practice, polished stone tools were made from a variety of hard rocks largely by digging underground tunnels, which can be considered as the first steps in mining technology. The polished axes were so effective that even after appearance of bronze and iron; people used it for clearing forest and the establishment of crop farming.
Although Stone Age cultures left no written records, but archaeological evidences proved their shift from nomadic life to agricultural settlement. Ancient tools conserved in different museums, cave paintings like Altamira Cave in Spain, and other prehistoric art, such as the Venus of Willendorf, Mother Goddess from Laussel, France etc. are some of the evidences in favour of their cultures.
Neolithic Revolution of Stone Age resulted into the appearance of Bronze Age with development of agriculture, animal domestication, and the adoption of permanent settlements. For these practices Bronze Age people further developed metal smelting, with copper and later bronze, an alloy of tin and copper, being the materials of their choice.
The Iron Age people replaced bronze and developed the knowledge of iron smelting technology to lower the cost of living since iron utensils were stronger and cheaper than bronze equivalents. In many Eurasian cultures, the Iron Age was the last period before the development of written scripts.
Educational technology during the period of Ancient civilizations According to Paul Saettler, 2004, Educational technology can be traced back to the time when tribal priests systematized bodies of knowledge and ancient cultures invented pictographs or sign writing to record and transmit information. In every stage of human civilization, one can find an instructional technique or set of procedures intended to implement a particular culture which were also supported by number of investigations and evidences. The more advanced the culture, the more complex became the technology of instruction designed to reflect particular ways of individual and social behaviour intended to run an educated society. Over centuries, each significant shift in educational values, goals or objectives led to diverse technologies of instruction.

— Concrete mental body, also called the inferior mental body: it deals with simple, quite objective perceptions, e.g., the ones of material objects, people, houses, vehicles, etc.;

Husband with Selective Taste Begs Wife, “Please, Please Don’t Buy Me Another Watch”

SOUTH ORANGE, NEW JERSEY – Mark Mueller, 42, stared at the face of his Fossil-brand timepiece, “…actually it doesn’t have a model name. I suppose it doesn’t need one.” He bit down on his quivering lip and furrowed his brow before closing his eyes, “and it’s quartz so I don’t need to worry about winding it.”
Incidentally, Mueller hadn’t procured the watch himself. It was a gift from his wife (one watch of many actually) that wouldn’t have been his first choice… or second or third… if it were ever up to him. Over the years he’d amassed several dozen, all of which were incredible mark-downs from their original MSRP costs that were “too good to pass up.”
Mueller tried to explain the persisting phenomenon, “She says gift giving is her love language…” He removed the Fossil and placed it with the others in his repurposed cookie tin box “…whatever that means.” He shook the tin from side to side as if panning for gold before picking up another, “This DKNY one was originally $399 but she found it at Macy’s for less than seventy if you can believe it. She’s got a real nose for this kind of stuff.”
When pressed about the origins of his interest, Mueller sheepishly confided, “Actually my dad had a Rolex when I was a kid. It was the only thing I’d ever seen him wear. He used to let me shake it back and forth and I could feel the rotor spin through the case. It was almost cathartic.” His eyes distilled toward a wandering haze, “I made the mistake of telling Sandra that story and birthdays haven’t really ever been the same since… or promotions… or Hanukah.”
In his closing remarks, Mueller clarified, “Not ‘mistake’,” rocking his head side to side, “perhaps ‘overshared.’ I mean why own one or two Rolexes when you could have several dozen-” His voice trailed off before reaching back in the box, “…Kenneth Cole Reactions.”

Mark Zuckerberg Purchases Rolex Brand… Just Because.

In an unexpected turn of events, billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, 36, ignited global controversy with his decision to purchase Rolex SA—quite possibly the only other corporate identity capable of challenging the brand awareness of Facebook’s social empire.
In response to the shaken investors as to why, he simply shrugged, “Because I could.”
It was a move of unprecedented spontaneity for the watch world… most of all for Jean-Frederic Dufour, Rolex’s CEO who, upon hearing the news of the backdoor deal, muttered in disbelief, “He can’t actually do this, can he? What the hell just happened…?”
Choosing to forgo a press conference, Zuckerberg had this to say: “While boredom should be reason enough, I guess there’s just something intrinsically special to this particular brand’s mastery of exclusivity… the concept of unobtainability is one I’ve always sought to patent and apply toward all business dealings… whether it’s intellectual property or anything else one might hold dear.” Zuckerberg let out a chuckle, “Like that one time I bought half of Kauai just to fence it off and piss off the locals.” He shook his head, “Sure was worth it to see their faces though.”
Watch collectors have already begun to posture their savings accounts for the trials that lie ahead, polling Instagram users with annoying requests to highlight their preferences for the non-Rolex “sell pile.” In the meantime, Zuckerberg’s latest Tweet only furthered the panic, “That new blueberry Submariner kind of reminds me of our Facebook logo,” he remarked. “I think I’ll keep that one. All of that one. The ‘smurf’ too.”
While community opposition has begun to mount against Zuckerberg’s further restriction of product flow, he remains cryptic, “The future exists in China, which is exactly why we’ll relocate our headquarters for operations in Beijing where we’ll quadruple production. This is not to say they’ll become more widely available… we don’t even know what Rolex is yet. How big it can get, how far it can go. A million Submariners isn’t cool, you know what’s cool? A billion Submariners.”
Upon saying this, Zuckerberg paused a beat and gazed at his Timex, “Perhaps I’ll keep all of those too.”

IWC Stoked That COVID and BLM Have Eclipsed the Toxic Male Investigations Led by #MeToo.

LOS ANGELES, CA—For many, 2019’s cultural shift could best be remembered as the wake up call America needed to acknowledge the victimization caused by sexual abuse. To some, it was simply “a good start.” Regardless, the media carried its message loud and clear; no person or entity would be spared the investigative scrutiny driven by the #MeToo movement. While reports are inconclusive, it’s estimated that those impacted were at least 90 percent women.
The ensuing audit of our culture for trace amounts of testosterone was thorough enough to impress the most stringent of gestapo—there was little IWC could do to bypass the attention, lest they remove all the, “absolutely no girls allowed signs” duct taped to their exhibition case displays.

It wouldn’t be long before 2020’s coronavirus and civil unrest would pivot the nation’s focus. Chad Richards, IWC’s head of U.S. marketing, was counting his blessings.
“F**k me, bro,” he began. “They had us by the balls for sure. I didn’t know if we’d ever be able shake the bad press haunting us from those earlier ads.”
Richards took a beat to adjust his belt buckle, further adding, “I mean, it was like… we stepped in a s**t… which was actually the baited trigger of a bear trap… one of those big, old rustic ones that would look badass on your office wall, you know? Only… on the side, instead of “made in America” it read, ‘How do you like me now, bitch?’ He motioned his hips, figuratively thrusting upward, ‘F**k you, f**k you, f**k you,'” and eventually concluded, “Literally, it required several acts of God to pry off their lockjaw.”
When questioned if IWC had anything to add regarding BLM or the pandemic, he replied, “Yes, absolutely. God bless BLM, God bless COVID, God bless the troops, and God bless America. Stay safe, you guys. It’s all kinds of nuts out there.”
Editor’s Note: The TBWS crew wants to clarify that these are real IWC ads and they’ve not been manipulated in any way.

Top Reddit Watch Seller Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

OSLO, NORWAY — Pat Ramachandran, noted Reddit watch seller with a transaction bling score over 25,000, was today nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. Berit Reiss-Andersen, chairperson of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, was effusive in her praise of Ramachandran: “In the past year, despite a global pandemic, social unrest, and economic catastrophe, [Ramachandran] successfully found homes for thousands of neglected watches.”
“Our committee took the time to read through every impassioned Reddit post, noting that every single piece, despite being in ‘like new’ condition with ‘only a few faint marks’, had been suffering from painful yet preventable conditions such as insufficient wrist time and lengthy captivity within watch boxes. By helping to send these to good homes, Pat showed true selflessness and extreme care for these deprived timepieces. What ultimately led to our decision, however, were Direct Messages that explained Ramachandran was taking a hit on every transaction.”
The fact that Ramachandran’s nomination was announced publicly came as a shock, as the Nobel regulations stipulate that nominees’ names be sealed for fifty years before release. However, the Committee chose to allow this nomination to be made publicly in order to bolster Ramachandran’s chances to win the world’s top humanitarian achievement, a guest spot on Talking Watches.

Man Tears Rotator Cuff Trying To Get Rolex Into Frame On Video Call

WANTAGH, NEW YORK — “Look, part of my job is knowing what I’m talking about. How the hell am I supposed to be taken seriously during Zoom calls if these f**king plebs can’t see my Rolex?”
Brandon Jung officially filed for worker’s compensation after purportedly injuring himself during the regular course of his employment as a Digital Marketing Project Manager for ReadySetMarketing, a reputation management business located in Wantagh, NY.
When asked why his Rolex needed to be in the Zoom frame, Mr, Jung replied, “Are you serious right now, man? We need to show our clients that we’re on the bleeding edge of what digital marketing has become and what it’s going to be. These people expect us to represent ourselves to the highest possible standards because Manhattan eats digital marketing agencies alive. A Rolex tells everyone in the room that you mean f*cking business and should be taken seriously.”
When corrected that his current employment location of Wantagh, NY was in fact over 40 miles away from Manhattan, Mr, Jung looked down at my Timex MKI, back at me, and refused to respond.
We reached out to Brandon’s supervisor Bob Spatz, ReadySetMarketing’s CMO, for comment. “What? CMO? I mean, I guess, but – listen we’re a small group here. There’s 5 of us including Brandon. We mainly deal with reputation management. You know, writing positive Yelp reviews for local restaurants, creating NAP data, and managing people’s ‘Google My Business’ accounts. I wouldn’t classify what we do as ‘digital marketing’.”
We asked about Mr. Jung’s title of “Digital Marketing Project Manager” to which Mr. Spatz responded “says here he’s a ‘Reputation Associate'” he explains, reading off Brandon’s hard copy employee file. “We’re not too strict with titles around here.”
We asked Mr. Jung about his CMO’s comments regarding his actual title of ‘Reputation Associate.’
“Of course he lied to you, you’re wearing a f*cking Daniel Wellington.”
ReadySetMarketing is contesting Mr. Jung’s filing of worker’s compensation, stating that his Rolex isn’t an essential tool for his day to day duties and that no one else in the video call had their camera on except him.

YouTube Watch Reviewer Confused That He Can’t Pay Rent with Freebies

LOS ANGELES, CA — “I showed her the quality of the logo on the box.” Blaine Reed, the YouTube watch reviewer, explained as he raised a box for us to see the embossed lettered. “See? That’s pressed into the box – not printed. Quality! And these – look,” Mr. Reed then showed us that the watch brand’s logo was also on the extra straps they included. “Attention to detail – boom. But she didn’t care. She was all like ‘Sir, we can’t accept your watches as a rent payment’.”
Late on Thursday September 3rd, the popular YouTube watch reviewer was reported as banging loudly on the glass doors of the Rockvale Grotto Apartment Rental leasing office. When informed that it was after office hours, Blaine insisted the doors be open because he pays their salaries.
Upon being granted entry, Susan Tisdale, the leasing associate running the office that day, reported that Mr. Reed appeared exhausted and out of breath as he hauled a black construction trash bag behind him. Mr. Reed than began to empty the contents of the bag onto the leasing office floor, revealing a purported 63 different watches.
After inquiring as to the meaning of Mr. Reed’s actions, Ms. Tisdale shared with authorities that Mr. Reed then began to section off the watch boxes into 3 categories: “classy minimalist,” “baller sporty,” and “fly.”
“Listen, this is just insane,” Mr. Reed continued to our crew. “The retail value of these watches alone could pay for 3 years of my rent.” We asked Mr. Reed how he acquired the watches. “These brands are all about fair pricing, top quality, and cutting out the middleman, you know? They come to me to help spread the word on what they do. So they send me a watch to review.” We asked why Mr. Reed kept all the watches and didn’t return them or share them with his audience. “That’s rude, man – why would you turn down a gift?”
After Mr. Reed asked how much he’d receive as an appearance fee for being covered in this piece, we inquired as to whether taking free watches as payments for reviews compromises his biased or unbiased position as a reviewer people can trust. Mr. Reed replied that he didn’t understand the question. But he did inform us that we could use the code BLAINEDAWG10 to receive 10% off our next purchase.

Adult Diaper Purchases Spike in Anticipation of Collectors Sh**ting Themselves over Latest Rolex Reveal

PALO ALTO, CA — In the wake of COVID-19 preparation, America’s populace learned a valuable lesson in emergency preparedness; purchase all the toilet paper you can. What can’t be purchased, steal. Silicon Valley’s aspiring tech moguls won’t be fooled twice and have applied the same logic toward adult diaper hoarding, well-aware of the news that Rolex has been leaking updates for their latest releases. Enthusiasts everywhere are primed for soiling themselves.
“As an entrepreneur, anticipating unexpected needs has been my biggest disruption to competitive markets,” says Andrew Chang, CEO to several start-ups he describes as “the Uber of crypto-currency and general pivoting.” “There’s a new rat race on the horizon,” he continues. “Everybody will be pre-occupied with acquiring the latest Rolex but nobody’s factoring the secondary effects here—rampant involuntary control of bowels at the next Redbar watch meet-up. Sure, you’ll try to play it cool when somebody finally drops the latest Blueberry Sub in front of your next watch pile… but good luck trying to hide the explosive excrement running down the pant leg of your chinos.”
Andrew is currently developing an application that will allow users to trade diaper stock quantity, while values are expected to fluctuate based on trending Rolex-related SEO data. “Posturing ourselves to be proactive through diversification has been the foundation of our success. Times change, but monetizing Rolex hysteria is ever-present.”
When questioned how this could impact local hospice needs or convalescent care for seniors, he’s continued to dismiss the concern. “You mean the generation responsible for carbon emissions, global warming, and systemic prejudices? You can’t be serious…”

Bahamian Vacationer Drowns Due To Bezel Play

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Randal Baker drowned early Sunday morning while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas. The event occurred just after an incident between the 32-year old accountant and the tour guide for Sunny Fun Day Underwater Tours.
“I don’t understand. I told Mr. Baker that it was time to surface,” Ramon, their tour guide explained “But he just kept looking at his watch and saying something about ISO standards and asking me if my Apple Watch was ISO COSC.” Ramon paused and then added in confusion “I wasn’t wearing an Apple Watch. I don’t know why he thought I was.”
Mr. Baker’s wife recalled how much her husband was looking forward to this vacation.
“I would wake up some nights and he’d be next to me on his phone, looking up different diver watches and reading reviews. ‘I need to make sure I can find something that will hold up to our dive.’
‘Honey,’ I’d tell him, ‘the Sunny Fun Day Underwater Tour website says it’s only 15 ft, won’t your Oris be fine?’
‘The Diver 65?! Are you crazy – it’s only 10 ATM!’ Eventually he bought a [redacted], calling it his ‘adventure’ watch'”
However, while readjusting his chest mounted GoPro underwater, experts determined that the bezel had just enough play to cost Randal his life.
The Sunny Dive Tour team was monitoring their dive time on a cellphone from the boat and keeping in radio contact with each other. But Mr. Baker had been monitoring the dive time on his newly acquired ‘Adventure Watch’ – the [redacted]. After the bezel play had occurred, there was a one to two minute discrepancy between the two monitored dive times.
Despite pleas and protests to resurface from the 15ft shallow dive, his last recorded words were to the effect that COSC ISO and the Watchfam wouldn’t let him down.

Watch Collector Optimistic with Latest Acquisition’s Potential to Raise His Sex Appeal

SEATTLE, WA—Having come across a flattering photo of Ryan Reynolds in a Google search for “celebrity watch brands,” Melvin Greenberg, 41, was convinced, “This is the one. This is the one that will finally get me laid.”
Before Piaget, Melvin had trialed several different watch companies with mixed celebrity endorsements, none of which had proven fruitful. He was convinced that the Tag Heuer Carrera, backed by the star power of Tom Brady and actor Brad Pitt, would have been a little overkill… but that, too, appeared faulty in effect. Sure enough, politics have a tendency to make their way into sponsorships which could have muddied the waters—alliances are frequently broken and re-established. Pitt, for example, had been swapped out by Tag for Leonardo DiCaprio.
Melvin believes, “It’s possible women were confused by the switch because now Brad Pitt’s an ambassador for Breitling. I can barely keep up with this, myself.” Against his better judgement, Melvin had purchased a Breitling Chronomat (just to be sure), even though he knew there was no mistaking him for a pilot.
With Reynolds’ Deadpool 2 having earned $786 million at the box office, a new record was set for the highest grossing rated R-film of all time. Reynolds’ persona had become synonymous with Deadpool’s—a relationship that would surely become tantamount for Piaget in return—and indistinguishably linked to how Melvin would be perceived.
For Melvin, it was the final touch to his innuendo-heavy profession of mattress sales, where he knew women would subliminally associate him with, “comfort and dreamscapes,” among “other forms of horizontal refreshment.”

Ebay Seller Lists, “Used/Superb Leather Hodinkee Straps – in USED, Honest Condition, See Comments. No Returns.”

MIAMI, FLORIDA — “Super discount! These aren’t just any leather watch straps… these are extremely high quality Hodinkee-brand straps,” says WatchHead1775, “not your cheap Amazon ones.”
Included in the lot are three pairs at fifty percent off retail for a BuyItNow price of $528 + $75 shipping—a bargain to any enthusiast who’s been coveting a watch strap bearing the website’s stamp.
Among the conditions noted the seller assures, “At least forty percent more life left in them (give or take). All have a couple extra holes made (sometimes on hot, muggy days my wrists expand but not enough to go into the next hole so I had to make some custom adjustments). Typical wrist smell and salt-sweat marks on the inside are to be expected. Discoloration where it’s been bent against the tang buckle is normal. Minor fraying along thread but this is also normal—a shoe repair guy can fix for nothing. The two crocodile straps were originally glossy but now they’ve got a matte texture (matte ones actually cost more on their website).”
While WatchHead1775 has done their due diligence to “scrape off most of the wrist cheese” they wish to highlight, “What you see is what you get. No low-balling. No returns! Looking to save up for some new ones because I’m not a huge fan of the distressed look.”
At the time of this post, no serious offers have been considered.

2020.09.22 00:25 Red-Curious The First Among

Lots of guys have caught on to the mission of making disciple(r)s. This is great. I have three qualms with how this is manifesting here, though:
  1. Some men are adopting this mission externally rather than internally. "The Bible says I need to do it, so I'm going to do it" is an acceptable starting point, but it's also a very blue pill approach. I've said here before: The red pilled Christian doesn't "enter Christ's frame," as many suggest. He is internally transformed/sanctified so that HIS OWN frame becomes synonymous with Christ's frame. The mission to make disciples is something you do for you, not something you do to appease God or earn his favor (which would be legalism), and having a proper perspective on this world in light of eternity necessitates this conclusion for anyone paying attention.
  2. I don't get the picture that many guys actually know what discipler-making looks like, often confusing the process with more common concepts like evangelism or mentoring. Join the RPC discord if you want to flesh this out more, as it's a much better place for getting insight. Otherwise, I do intend to proceed with the 300 series soon.
  3. Other guys have compartmentalized their mission from their mate.
We've talked about the first before, and the second will be upcoming, but let's focus on the third for now.
COMPARTMENTALIZATION
I'm as guilty of doing this as anyone else here. I don't mean just in the past - I'm talking the present too. It's an easy trap to fall into, especially within the red pill scene where there's so much emphasis on the man doing his own thing separate from the inappropriate influence of his wife. Yet there's a significant difference between being influenced by her and influencing her.
To be clear, there are areas where you SHOULD be influenced by your wife. Maybe she has skills you don't, or insight you lack, or experiences you could benefit from. Don't shoot all that down just because you have some ridiculous notion of what it means to be a "red pill man." The red pill is about understanding the truth - and I'll add: in its proper context. Yes, it may be a red pill truth that sometimes women need to be told no. But don't be autistic about it.
When it comes to being the one doing the influencing, lots of guys take a pass. Or, more accurately: they become passive. They take the "autist" route of misunderstanding the red pill advice of "do your own thing and let her follow" as "I'm just going to ignore her and expect her to get with the program all on her own." That's foolish.
But the natural conclusion of this foolishness is segregating your mission from your mate. Why?
  • Maybe she told us she didn't want to be involved, so we obeyed her like good little children
  • Maybe she's not naturally good at helping in our mission, so we didn't even bother trying to train her
  • Maybe we're just idiots and completely forgot to include her in the first place
Whatever your reason, the reality is that this needs to be fixed. Your wife is your helper. Let her help. If she doesn't try on her own, invite her. If she's not good at it, train her. If she resists, correct her. If she fails, encourage her.
RED PILL EXCUSES
What I DON'T want you doing is using the red pill as an excuse to avoid connecting her with your mission. I noticed myself doing this at one point, and I've seen it in other men. Their wife isn't following, so you say things like "1,000 foot rope" and "you do you" as cop-outs for never actually trying to connect with her on your mission in the first place.
Yes, the 1,000 foot rope may take time to reel in. Yes, "you do you" certainly applies. But these only make sense IN THE CONTEXT of her refusing to join in with the program. What if she doesn't refuse? Then there's no point going off on your own! How do you know if she will or won't?
Some guys fail to involve their wives for the same reason other guys fail to ask out a girl in the first place: "What if she says no?!?" Oooh, the horror. So, you guarantee the bad conclusion (rejection) in order to maintain your feeling of control and dominance over the situation, giving a false sense of safety and emotional stability.
But if you can get on board with the idea of a single guy asking a girl out in order to build confidence (either through success or gradual immunization from rejection), the same should apply to you with your wife, just in a different context.
The principles are still the same. When a single Christian man asks out a girl, that's his way of saying, "I want you to be my helper in what God has in store for my life." In case you haven't caught on, what "God has in store" is for you to make disciplers. When a married Christian man is compartmentalizing his mission and his mate, he's in the same scenario, needing to ask her: "Will you start helping me in what God has in store for our lives?"
MARRIAGE AND MINISTRY
For discipler-makers, here's a principle to live by: Your marriage affects your ministry. You may not realize how, and even after hearing the explanation you still may not see it ... but it does.
Discipleship is about life-modeling. If your marriage sucks, how can you model for other men what marriage should look like? The Church has been warned that if a man can't manage his own household, he shouldn't manage God's household either. 1 Timothy 3:5. "One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much." Luke 16:10. And that applies to leading your family, if you want to have greater influence in God's Kingdom. Get the point?
But the connection goes to another level: your wife should be the first among those you disciple, and your children after her. How can a man pretend to disciple other men if he does not disciple his own family? It's a lunacy trap I'd been caught in for years, and having escaped it I see how many other men are there too. It ultimately stems from a weak frame - a man who likely believes, "My wife would never let me disciple her." This, as described above, is partly due to misconceptions about what biblical discipleship actually looks like and how to implement it in the context of a marriage (a process I'd enjoy much more discussion on). But it's more commonly because most guys haven't developed a frame that's strong and attractive enough to handle it.
FIRST AMONG
We've already said that your wife should be the first among your disciples. Great. But it's more than just that. She's also the first among those who should WANT to follow your lead. Does she?
Your wife has vowed to follow you, right? If anyone would want to follow you, she has more motive and obligation than anyone else. Now, remove the obligation component. Suppose the Bible never said wives should submit to their husbands, but still impressed on the man the obligation to lead their wives. The dynamic suddenly shifts to parallel the rest of the world in your discipler-making efforts, where you have an obligation to lead them toward Christ-likeness, yet they have no obligation to submit to your leadership.
With that in mind, the principles that will cause your wife to want to follow you are identical to what will cause others to want to follow you. Physical attractiveness, strength, confidence, charisma, charm, wit, emotional stability, financial acuity, a clear vision, etc. - these are all things that make you more attractive to your wife, and will also make you more attractive to the rest of the world. She's just the first among your followers.
Yes, you can probably get a guy or two to follow you even if your wife won't. But I've found that such relationships rarely produce fruit in the long-haul. They're guys who often see themselves as more your peer, and generally tend to be low-value men who share similar struggles as you. Maybe they respect one aspect of you that they want to learn from, but will they truly want to be discipled by you the way Jesus discipled his 12? Probably not.
My point: If you want to be effective at your mission, be effective in it at home first. I don't mean "first" in a successive sense - "this first, then that" - but in a priority sense. Have other guys you're working with too. Be simultaneous inside and outside the home. But make sure your home life is the priority. That's where it starts. Because that's where you're going to model for other men what they should look like in their own life and relationships.
CONCLUSION
If you don't know who to disciple, start with your wife/girlfriend. If you can't figure out why you're not effective at making disciples outside the home, perhaps it's because you haven't prioritized making disciples inside the home. The same things that make your wife want to follow you will also make other people want to follow you.
In another context, this is much of why we talk so much about improving men's marriage and sex lives - not because we're obsessed with marriage and sex. It's because the processes are often parallel, and a healthier marriage/sex-life is a waypoint on the larger journey toward advancing God's Kingdom during your time on this earth.

2020.09.21 20:18 ammodotcom Early American Militias: The Forgotten History of Freedmen Militias from 1776 until the Civil War

https://preview.redd.it/zwpt4r0yljo51.jpg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e3f2441641ecd57659dc4b6f748fb2d622657c1
The United States militia is enshrined in the Second Amendment of the Constitution. And while the militia movement of today is widely known, its history – and the history of independent Constitutional militias stretching back to the dawn of the republic – is far less well known.
Why does this matter nowadays? Because understanding the historical roots of America's militias helps modern-day members appreciate the role they play in our federal system of government. Because since inception, militias have been tasked with stopping those who hold public office from exceeding their authority or those seeking to enact legislation outside of their operating charter – a crucial check against incremental encroachment by the state, as James Madison wrote in the Federalist Papers on January 29, 1788:
"Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of."
The militia is the final means of recourse in this cycle of self-government – and arguably the most important. Thus this is the first in a two-part historical series on America's militias. The second part, American Militias after the Civil War: From Black Codes to the Black Panthers and Beyond, looks at additional changes this American institution underwent from Reconstruction onwards.
The Colonial Origins of the United States Militia
The vision of an American militia goes back even before the United States Constitution or the founding of the United States. In most states in colonial America, all able-bodied men were considered to be part of the militia – through which the individual towns and cities would provide for the common defense.
A militia is explicitly mentioned in the United States Constitution, prior to the Bill of Rights. Article I, Section 8, drafted around the same time as the founding of the Springfield Armory (ground zero for American ammunition manufacturing), mentions it three times alone:
• To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
• To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
• Article II, Section 2 designates the President of the United States as the “Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States.”
While the 1903 Militia Act is a relatively recent innovation to the world of the American militia, it is worth referencing, even if briefly, as we dive into our long history. The Militia Act of 1903 separates the militia into two groups:
• Organized Militia: These are the forces that comprise the National Guard, which are the organized militia forces of each state. It is not synonymous with the National Guard of the United States, which is a reserve military force under joint control of the federal and state governments.
• Unorganized Militia: This is virtually every other man in the United States. Men are not part of the unorganized militia if they are part of the organized militia. All other able-bodied men between the ages of 17 and 45 are considered part of the militia. This is an important concept to remember, even as we work through the part of militia history predating this Act.
In the pre-1903 Militia Act era, the line between the two is not so clearly defined. Many of the militias discussed below are organized and subject to statute, but not “organized” in the sense that they have official membership rolls, uniforms, or even significant involvement from their respective state and territorial governments. Much like the later independent or “Constitutional militia” movement, there is a rank, structure and a chain of command, but the organization is not necessarily subject to government oversight – other than having to comply with all relevant statutes. In the case of the militias of the Revolutionary War period, this is very fuzzy.
The militia is an outgrowth of an English common law institution. The word itself dates back to 1590. Originally, the word simply meant soldiers in the service of the state. By the mid-17th Century, however, it had taken on connotations of a civilian military force. It carried additional connotations in terms of a military raised in temporary service to respond to some kind of an emergency.
The early militias, on both sides of the Atlantic, served the purpose of both security and defense. These were particularly important in the New World, where attacks from hostile Indian tribes were a constant threat. Indeed, these militias played a key role in the French and Indian Wars, including the primary one taking place concurrently with the Seven Years War between the years 1754 and 1763.
During these periods, militias organized by towns were also the pool from which the Provincial Forces were drafted. This was, in fact, a rare occurrence. The Provincial Forces were one of the best-paying wage labor opportunities available to American colonists, so their ranks were rarely short.
While the Provincial Forces were very professional and disciplined, the militias were not. Indeed, no less an authority than George Washington (at that time the adjutant-general of the Virginia militia) noted that the militia was largely disorganized. He considered the militia fit for times of peace, but ill-equipped for times of war. Even during peace, the bulk of the colonial military were what are today Army Rangers – well paid, professional, highly disciplined, and accomplished.
Militias During the American Revolution
The militias, however, played a central role in the American Revolution. The famous “Minutemen” – figures as iconic as the cowboy in American mythology – are, in fact, personifications and embodiments of the militia as it existed during the time of the American Revolution.
The history of the American militia cannot be discussed without talking about the Minutemen. These were effectively partisans in the war against the British, for which there is a subtle irony: The Minutemen harked back to the earliest traditions of the English countryside militia – ready on a moment’s notice.
Indeed, the militia is perhaps the British institution that most shaped the United States and its culture.
The British did not represent the entire militia, but the most disciplined and committed elements of it. They were, as the name implies, ready to go at a minute’s notice. They represented approximately a quarter of the entire force, and skewed toward the younger and more radical members of the revolutionary movement.
The roots of the Minutemen (and of the militia in general) lie in the old British colonial militia. In the Massachusetts Bay Colony, all able-bodied men between the ages of 16 and 60 were obligated to serve in the militia. By 1645, possibly earlier, there were men selected specially for rapid deployment segments of the militia, known as “training bands.” The term “Minutemen” was even used during this period. These were organized on a town-by-town basis, with some towns, notably Lexington, not having special rapid response units.
During this period, Minutemen could not be over 30 years old. Officers were elected by rank and file, as was generally common throughout the colonial militias. Fowling pieces were the most common weapon. Uniforms were nonexistent, with hunting gear being the most common form of clothing. The French and Indian War provided the irregular forces with training in proto-guerilla warfare that European troops were not familiar with.
On the eve of the Revolutionary War, the Minutemen became something distinct from the rest of the militia, not simply its most committed segment. The Powder Alarm of 1774 underscored the need for a sleeker, more committed and more rapidly responding segment of the militia – the regular militia simply did not deploy quickly enough to prevent the British military from seizing materiel from the local ammunition stores and armories.
The British feared the power of the militias and the Minutemen prior to the Revolution. One of the strategic aims of the Intolerable Acts was to significantly decrease the power of town government. When General Thomas Gage, Governor of Massachusetts under the Intolerable Acts, attempted to seat his hand-picked court in Worcester, 2,000 militiamen prevented him from doing so. In response, Gage set out to confiscate provincial munitions. The militia responded in kind by assembling 4,000 men to the Cambridge common.
From the very beginning of the revolution, the militias played a pivotal role, despite the fact that they were of limited utility. The Battles of Lexington and Concord started as a confrontation between the local militias and the colonial authorities. On April 19, 1775, 800 British troops marched out of Boston to Concord. They were unable to locate their target, the colonists’ arms and ammunition, which they were to confiscate. It was at 5 a.m. that they encountered 70 militiamen in Concord. They ordered the militiamen to disperse, but the militiamen refused. This is what led to “the shot heard round the world,” but to this day historians are unsure who fired first.
While the militias themselves were primarily used for disrupting supply lines and harrassing, skirmishing type attacks, many of the senior officers were those who had cut their teeth bush fighting during the French and Indian Wars. On the other hand, the British senior officers had no experience with this kind of fighting and had to learn it on the fly.
On their way back to the city after being unable to find the arms and ammunition, the British were stalked and sniped by militiamen. The company was routed, and 900 additional troops were required to save them from the clandestine attacks of the Patriot militias.
Throughout the Revolutionary War, the Minutemen model increasingly became the standard for irregular militia fighters. This provided the Continental Army with swelled numbers on short notice. While the Minutemen weren’t known as great marksmen, the psychological impact and distraction of their presence certainly helped win the Patriots’ cause. Scores of militias were culled from each of the newly independent 13 states, as well as Vermont, which was at that time its own independent republic and not one of the United States.
While the revolutionary fervor was felt most strongly in the militias at the beginning of the war, this waned over time. After all, the Revolutionary War lasted eight years – a long time to maintain that level of enthusiasm. The militias elected their own officers and often used this to ensure that they would not have to serve outside of their home state. Often times, militia members hired replacements, and in extreme cases, exorbitant bribes were required to get the men to perform their militia duties. The currency became inflated over the course of the war, requiring land grants and promises of slaves at the war’s end.
The militia was a hugely popular public institution at the end of the Revolutionary War. It was seen as the national defense of a free people, as opposed to a standing army. Most experts, however, did not feel that the militia had much in the way of actual military value in the event of a foreign invasion. Still, figures like George Washington were forced to support the militia publicly, while speaking of its limitations more privately.

2020.09.19 02:43 midmodernman For those who care or are curious: A message from MEC’s Board of Directors

Dear valued member,
We recognize this has been an unsettling week for members. The sale of MEC’s business, and the decision to move the business away from the co-operative model was, after all, a very difficult decision – but it was the right one. Facing a stark choice, we chose to preserve employment opportunities, a larger store presence, and a commitment to MEC’s ethos rather than fold up the MEC tent for good.
As you may know, this week, MEC filed for protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act ("CCAA"). Effectively, this was a recognition that MEC was financially insolvent, and in dire need of support to continue moving forward. Fortunately, at the same time, our Board of Directors announced unanimous support for an agreement with Kingswood Capital Management, LP. The agreement with Kingswood will ensure that MEC has a brighter future.
We’ve heard your questions, let us attempt to answer them:
First, you’re probably wondering, “what happened?” MEC has experienced increasing performance issues since 2016. In July 2019, new leadership was brought in to develop a plan to turn MEC around. We were making significant progress but then the global pandemic hit and exacerbated MEC’s financial challenges. A Special Committee of the Board engaged in an extensive examination of options to address the persistent financial issues. As part of the review, the Special Committee, in concert with expert advisors, sought refinancing from over 65 potential lenders, proactively explored and leveraged applicable government support programs, and examined funding MEC through voluntary member assessments. Ultimately, a sale was the only option that would save MEC from bankruptcy or liquidation.
We’ve been asked, “what is CCAA?” and “why don’t members vote on this decision?” Our persistent financial challenges combined with the pandemic created a situation in which MEC became insolvent, and this necessitated a filing under CCAA. In CCAA, the court oversees the restructuring process to ensure fairness. A member vote (or in the case of corporations, a shareholder vote) is not required. CCAA allows an organization to maintain its business ‘in the ordinary course’ while giving it the breathing room necessary to restructure its affairs. This is done to preserve as much of its business as possible for the benefit of employees, members/customers, suppliers and other stakeholders in the communities in which it operates.
Many are wondering “why wasn’t the board more forthcoming or transparent?” First of all, we understand that many are upset and apologize for not communicating more or sooner. As a member-based co-op, we know the importance of transparency, and value co-operative principles. But in exercising our fiduciary duty, the board’s top priority was preserving jobs and saving MEC from bankruptcy or liquidation. In short, we prioritized MEC’s survival.
Since our founding in 1971, MEC’s deeply loyal members have been synonymous with who we are and what we do. That will not change. MEC will continue, and our values will be maintained, though it may look a little different.
Kingswood's commitment to honouring the MEC ethos through their Canadian affiliate and the solid financial footing from this transaction gives us tremendous confidence in the future. The Kingswood team, and the incoming CEO, Canadian and longtime MEC member Eric Claus, are very optimistic about MEC’s future. That optimism was at the heart of the board’s decision to enter into this agreement. For more information see: www.alvarezandmarsal.com/MEC.
Guided by the last 50 years, we look forward to MEC’s continued service to communities across Canada enabling everyone to lead an active outdoor lifestyle.
Thank you for your commitment to MEC,
Judi Richardson Chair of the Board of Directors

2020.09.18 18:24 ynue Introduction to <> (read böraket)

<> (read böraket) is meant to be a living constructed language. Opposed as "living" and "constructed" can be, it aims to start from an artificial (constructed) set of basic rules and evolve naturally ("livingly") thereafter, as any natural language does.
As of today, this project is just starting: only the following rules were established, and we have coined 50 words or so. We are around 20 members on a small discord server, we'll be more than happy to welcome you if you're interested!

Golden rules

One (if not the) key element of <> is that it is continually growing and adjusting to the community’s needs. The speakers abide by the three following rules.
Rule 1
Translations of complete sentences are allowed (yet discouraged), but translating individual words is formally forbidden anywhere.
This rule ensures that people acquire the language by immersing themselves rather than learning matching tables between <> and any other language.
Rule 2
Focus on mutual understanding and expressiveness rather than correcting yourself or others: if you are being understood, you are speaking <>!
This rule aims to foster expressiveness and helps fight against any language norm.
Rule 3
Before coining a new word, make sure it does not already exist. There can be synonyms, but they should have a minimal difference in meaning, tone or connotation.
This rule intends to make the language precise but not redundant.

Phonology

All the sounds of <> appear in pairs: consonants have both a soft and hard version, while vowels have a tonic and dominant realization. The six consonant pairs and six vowel pairs are as follows.
Consonnants
Soft (S) /b/ Bb /d/ Dd /g/ Gg /v/ Vv /ð/, /z/ or /ʒ/ Zz
Hard (H) /p/ Pp /t/ Tt /k/ Kk /f/ Ff /θ/, /s/ or /ʃ/ Ss
Liquid (L) /m/ Mm /l/ Ll /j/ Jj
Fluid (F) /n/ Nn /ɹ/ or /ɾ/ Rr /h/ Hh
Vowels
Tonic /a/ /ɑ/ Aa /e/ Ee /o/ Oo Uu
Dominant /ə/ Ää /i/ Ëë /ø/ Öö /y/ Üü

Phonotactics

A syllable of <> follows the (C)V(C) pattern.
When several syllables follow each other, the combinations Soft-Hard (SH) and Hard-Soft (HS) are not allowed (because they are hardly pronounceable).
If the last letter of a word is a consonant, it must be hard or fluid.

Morphology

The key idea is that a word is the product of the action of a rule over a lexeme.
Rules
Rules can have a wide variety of roles, from inflecting a root to softening the connotation of a root, any modification of a root is modeled through a rule. For example, a rule could be "do nothing", "shift /g/ into /k/" or "redouble the last-but-one syllable".
A rule can be seen as a function that only depends on the lexeme to be transformed and an inherent property of its own.
This prevents a rule from depending on surrounding words in the sentence. Replacing a root by a non-constant one is not a valid rule.
Lexemes
I want <> to be able to express any idea in concise and precise terms. This is why there is a constraint on the length of a lexeme, but not on that of words (because there is no limitation on the actual content of a rule).
Lexemes should be three syllables long as a maximum.
This limitation should help keep the vocabulary reasonably short.
Words
The <> language makes an analogy with the quantum physic “bra-ket” notation. A root is conceptually written root> and a rule is marked . Thus, a word is obtained as word = . <, > and will not appear in the language: this notation is a tool to show the effect of a rule on a root.
This is rather abstract, so let’s take an example in English: the formation of gerund. The rule is to the verbal root. Applied to the root eat>, this gives = eating. But when forming the gerund of the root split>, the rule is not valid anymore since the letter “t” has to be reduplicated. Basically the rule stays the same, but it is not applied the same way on the verb. The notation helps account for that and keep rules easier: = splitting.

Credits

This project was inspired by Viossa (namely rules 1 and 2, although rule 1 is softer here than in Viossa), but I wanted it to be more constrained on the phonology, phonotactics and morphology parts.

How to participate

We would be thrilled if you would like to share your thoughts on this project, or join us in this exciting journey! If you feel like joining us, here is the invite link to our Discord server: https://discord.gg/CJACvDB

2020.09.17 21:41 pissflask Quake: Elimination 1 vs. 100 concept. A solution to many of AFPS' problems

i've been playing fall guys a bit, it's a fun little dumb distraction which takes the battle royal concept and applies it to takeshi's castle.
while its hype is already receding, the round based elimination concept really resonated with a mass audience. i've heard it referred to as a BR game before but it's only really the 1 vs. 100 (or 1 vs. 59 more accurately) that is carried over from that genre.
i started thinking about how this could apply to Quake and it struck me how many issues it solved and how much i'd want to play it.
unlike fall guys or a BR, the 100 would be sharded instead of in one server. start with say 10x10 player FFAs on a timer which start and end simultaneously, with the top four from each server advancing. then the next round could be 5 4v4 TDM or CTF matches, then the winning 5 teams could be split into two 10 player unholy trinity or instagibs....and so on until you have a duel final between the last remaining two players.
an example tournament could go (maths isn't my strong suit so i might have fucked this up):
100 players - 10 simultaneous FFA/instagib/hot rockets - top four from each server advance
40 remaining players - 5 simultaneous 4v4s CTF/TDM/Sacrifice etc
20 remaining players - 2 simultaneous clan area 5v5s
10 remaining players - 2 5 player holy trinity FFAs, top 2 players from each server advance

each round could be randomised to some extent to give newer players a chance to experience lots of different modes and sneak through despite not necessarily being a duel god (the first round especially should be one of the more casual modes and have power-ups and mutators throwing a bit of chaos in). variety and a sense of unpredictability would be key to keep people interested. it would also be important for each player to be 100% aware of the scope of what they're participating in, show brackets inbetween rounds with player names (and their chosen models) getting eliminated in OTT quake fashion as they're knocked out.
think of the issues it solves: casual appeal, lobby downtime, fragmented community, lack of reason to queue for different modes. above all it would just be fun and a celebration of everything there is to enjoy about Quake and bring back the reasons why so many people enjoyed it before it was synonymous with overbearing difficulty.
i genuinely think it's a strong enough idea that it could be spun off as a standalone mode. the fun variety mode yin to the yang of the hardass esports nature of AFPS, which nevertheless retains a sense of competition.

2020.09.17 20:42 StevenStevens43 The birth of the Antiochus

The birth of the Antiochus
The Dardani:
Throughout the ages in this region, the word "Dan" has prevailed in seemingly many forms and abbreviations.
From the tribes of Dan in Israel, to the Denyans in Egypt, to the Tuatha de Dannan in Ireland, to the Danes in Denmark.
By the 4th Century BC, the Dardani were the strongest group in europe fighting against the Messenaean Greek expansion.
(Regards to the photo beneath.. When one see's a place name that contains two LL's, such as "Illyria", then one might suspect it has some pertinence with the Welsh language).
Dardani
The Dardani were a Paleo-Balkan tribe which lived in a region which was named Dardania) after their settlement there.[1][2]

Dardania
Celtic invasion:
You see, in this area, there was an "ongoing" power struggle going on between peoples with allegiances to the more Northern territories such as Scandinavia, and North western territories such as Albion/Britain, and those with allegiances more to traditional europeans and Anatolians, such as Greeks.
By the 4th century BC, the power struggle in this region was on scales, going back and forth like a yoyo, and in the 4th Century BC the Celts came down hard, and established a very powerful base, named Dardania.
Dardania
The Kingdom of Dardania was attested since the 4th century BC in ancient sources reporting the wars the Dardanians waged against Macedon. After the Celtic invasion of the Balkans weakened the state of the Macedonians and Paeonians, the political and military role of the Dardanians began to grow in the region

Illyria
Albania:
Now, Dardani is pretty much synonymous with Albania.
Names
The names Dardania appears to be connected to Albanian dardhë.[13] In 1854, Johann Georg von Hahn was the first to propose that the names Dardanoi and Dardania) were related to the Albanian word dardhë ("pear, pear-tree"),

Greko-Roman:
In fact, the contemporary understanding that Greko-Romans, unlike indigenous Greeks, or Indigenous Italians, are in fact the descendants of multi-culturistic Greek diversity, would mean they are also partially the descendants of peoples from the Balkans, that probably originate from more Baltic lands than Balkan, had to be explained away by the early Roman emperors that were now trying to justify wars against the Dardani.
And they admitted (in not so many words), that they are partially descended from Dardani peoples, but that the Dardani are unevolved partial ancestors, and they do not have the same levels of sophistication as the Greeks, that Greco-Romans are also descended from, thus, they are barbarians.
ancient sources
The rulers of some of the great powers of antiquity, such as Epirus), Macedonia) and Rome, claimed a Trojan ancestry linking themselves to Dardanus), who according to the tradition was the founder of the Trojan ruling house. But if Dardanus and the tribes over which he ruled were descended from the Balkan people, who were considered "barbarians" by the Romans, it would have been an embarrassment. Thus, by Roman times the connection was explained by a movement that occurred in the opposite direction proposing that Dardanus caused the settling of the Dardani west of the Thracians, accepting the version that the Dardani were a people related to the Trojans, but that they had degenerated to a state of "barbarism" in their new settlement).[19]

Alexander the Great:
The Dardani would expand their power, conquering the whole of Macedonia, and would almost be united with the Persian Achaemenid empire, when Alexander the Great would come along and reclaim Macedonia.
4th century BC
In 334 BC, under the leadership of Cleitus, the son of Bardylis, the Dardani, in alliance with other Illyrian tribes attacked Macedonia held by Alexander the Great. The Dardani managed to capture some cities but were eventually defeated by Alexander's forces.[21]

Alexander the Great
Hellenstic empire:
Of course, under Alexanders reign, Macedonia would be at the centre of the worlds biggest empire, and the Achaemenid empire would become collapsed.
Alexander the Great
Alexander endeavoured to reach the "ends of the world and the Great Outer Sea" and invaded India in 326 BC, winning an important victory over the Pauravas at the Battle of the Hydaspes. He eventually turned back at the demand of his homesick troops, dying in Babylon in 323 BC, the city that he planned to establish as his capital, without executing a series of planned campaigns that would have begun with an invasion of Arabia. In the years following his death, a series of civil wars tore his empire apart, resulting in the establishment of several states ruled by the Diadochi, Alexander's surviving generals and heirs.
Pharoah:
Of course, his place in history would be cemented when he removed the Persians from the Egyptian throne, and became crowned Pharoah, in 332 BC, thus founding the foundations for the Ptolemic empire.
Egypt
Alexander advanced on Egypt in later 332 BC, where he was regarded as a liberator.[80] He was pronounced son of the deity Amun at the Oracle of Siwa Oasis in the Libyan desert.[81] Henceforth, Alexander often referred to Zeus-Ammon as his true father, and after his death, currency depicted him adorned with the Horns of Ammon as a symbol of his divinity.[82] During his stay in Egypt, he founded Alexandria-by-Egypt, which would become the prosperous capital of the Ptolemaic Kingdom after his death.[83]
Roman alliances:
From the get go, the Ptolomists were keen to form alliances with their sophisticated cousins, the Romans.
Foreign affairs)
He had much less success in his attempts to negotiate a peace between the Macedonia and the Roman Republic in the First Macedonian War (215-205 BC).[24] Ptolemy made large financial contributions to a number of Greek cities in order to gain their favour. He was responsible for the city walls at Gortyn in Crete[25] Ptolemy was honoured for his benefactions with monuments and cults in his honour at various cities, including Rhodes and Oropus[26][27]
In the west, Ptolemy maintained friendly neutrality with the Roman Republic and Carthage, which were fighting against one another in the Second Punic War (218-201 BC). He received a friendly embassy from the Romans in 210 BC, requesting a gift of grain to help feed the starving populus. It is unknown how Ptolemy responded to this request.[28]

Assassination of Alexander IV:
However, the war was far from over, and Alexander the Greats 14 year old son would be assassinated before he could rule Egypt, passing the Pharoahship to the Roman-Greco Ptolomy's.
Death of Alexander IV
However, Green thinks that Heracles was killed after Alexander IV's assassination.[8]

Dardanian alliance:
The Dardanian elitists, in true aristocratic fashion, tried to get their foot on the throne another way, by offering to protect the Hellenstic empire against Celtic invasion, by forming allegiances.
Which of course, would result in concessions.
However Ptolomy quite wisely refused, and decided to fight the Celtic armies himself.
1st - 3rd century BC
Celts were present in Dardania in 279 BC.[25] The Dardanian king offered to help the Macedonians with 20,000 soldiers against the Celts, but this was refused by Macedonian king Ptolemy Keraunos.[26]
brennus:
Now, another king that was involved in this invasion beginning around 279 BC, was one of the Brennos brothers.
If you would like to know which one of the brothers it was, and what country he was king of, then simply go to the lobby after reading this article, and read the article "Belinus and Brennius and the sack of rome".
But, Belinas, king of Albany and Cambria, was reported to have committed suicide during this war.
It is likely he did so by jumping off the tower of Apollo.
To find out why it is likely that he jumped off the tower of apollo, simply see other articles in lobby.
Brennus
Another Brennus) was one of the leaders of the army of Gauls who attempted to invade and settle in the Greek mainland in 278 BC. After a looting spree and after managing to pass Thermopylae by encircling the Greek army and forcing it to retreat he made his way to the rich treasury at Delphi but he was defeated by the re-assembled Greek army. Brennus was heavily injured at the battle of Delphi and committed suicide there.

Belgae:
Now, it is very likely that one of the main armies of the Brennos, during their sack of Rome, and conquest of Macedonia, prior to attempting to conquer Athens, were the Belgae.
In fact, Brennius and Belinus where likely one of the Belgae themselves, as "Belgae" was just part of a wider branch of Gaelic speaking Gauls that spread from Britain, Ireland and throughout mainland europe.
The differences between Belgae, and other Gauls, would be simple dialectics, with one another still able to speak to eachother, even if in a totally different accent, or, with slightly different spellings and pronounications.
Beli and Belinus
The consensus among linguists is that the ethnic name Belgae comes from the Proto-Celtic root \belg-* or \bolg-* meaning "to swell (particularly with angebattle fury/etc.)", cognate with the Dutch adjective gebelgd "very angry" (weak perfect participle of the verb belgen "to become angry") and verbolgen "being angry" (strong perfect participle of obsolete verbelgen "to make angry"), as well as the Old English verb belgan, "to be angry" (from Proto-Germanic \balgiz), derived ultimately from the Proto-Indo-European root *\bhelgh-* ("to swell, bulge, billow"). Thus, a Proto-Celtic ethnic name \Bolgoi* could be interpreted as "the people who swell (particularly with angebattle fury)".[3]

Julius Caesar:
Now, a lot of confusion and damage was caused by the politics of Julius Caesar, who decided to draw lines between Gallic countries, and insist they are seperate peoples.
His historical understanding is not actually shared by today's contemporary scholar and historian, and was not even shared amongst his own Greco allies, that thought there was an extremely small difference between Gauls, and Germanics, and tribes from other gaelic speaking parts of Gaul.
Strabos obviously did not share Caesars political reasoning.
Origins of Belgae
.[8] Ancient sources such as Caesar are not always clear about the things used to define ethnicity today. While Caesar or his sources described the Belgae as distinctly different from the Gauls, Strabo stated that the differences between the Celts (Gauls) and Belgae, in countenance, language, politics, and way of life was a small one, unlike the difference between the Aquitanians and Celts.[9] The fact that the Belgae were living in Gaul means that in one sense they were Gauls. This may be Caesar's meaning when he says "The Belgae have the same method of attacking a fortress as the rest of the Gauls".[10]
Belgae in Britain:
Now, most of the most southern regions of Albion/Briton, were inhabited by Belgae.
The Belgae are even said to be the same peoples as the Irish Fir-Bolg.
Which is hardly surprising, as they spoke the same language as Irish people.
The name belgium, comes from the Belgae.
Belgae
Some peoples in Britain were also called Belgae and O'Rahilly equated them with the Fir Bolg in Ireland. The Belgae gave their name to the Roman province of Gallia Belgica and, much later, to the modern country of Belgium; today "Belgae" is also Latin for "Belgians".

The birth of the Antiochus:
Now, Ptolomy was doing very well in Egypt, until the rise of Antiochus III's selecud empire invaded and conquered Alexander the greats old lands, including macedonia, and re-established the Iranian/Aryan persian titles.
It is likely that the attacks from Belinus & the Belgae had a "huge" role to play in this success.
Antiochus III
Antiochus III the Great /ænˈtaɪəkəs/ (Greek: Ἀντίoχoς Μέγας; c. 241 – 3 July 187 BC, ruled April/June 222 – 3 July 187 BC)[1] was a Macedonian Hellenistic king and the 6th ruler of the Seleucid Empire.[2][3][4] He ruled over the region of Syria and large parts of the rest of western Asia towards the end of the 3rd century BC. Rising to the throne at the age of eighteen in 222 BC, his early campaigns against the Ptolemaic Kingdom were unsuccessful, but in the following years Antiochus gained several military victories and substantially expanded the empire's territory. His traditional designation, the Great, reflects an epithet he assumed. He also assumed the title Basileus Megas (Greek for "Great King"), the traditional title of the Persian kings. A militarily active ruler, Antiochus restored much of the territory of the Seleucid Empire,

Antiochus III
Anti-Roman freedom fighter:
Now, Antichus III "is not" Greek in the slightest.
He is a blond haired blue eyed boy.
He has conquered Greece from the Greco-Romans.
So, in that sense, yes, he is Greek.
But he announces himself to the world as a freedom fighter fighting against the growing Roman empire.
His invasion of Greece is of course, a huge blow to the Greco-Roman Hellenstic world.
Antiochus III
Declaring himself the "champion of Greek freedom against Roman domination", Antiochus III waged a four-year war against the Roman Republic beginning in mainland Greece in the autumn of 192 BC[5][6]

Roman alliance:
Now, just as Antiochus was about to walk in to Egypt and hand Ptolomy his p45, the Romans decided to ally themselves with Ptolomy after-all, and they came to the rescue.
War against Rome and death
In 192 BC Antiochus invaded Greece with a 10,000-man army, and was elected the commander in chief of the Aetolian League.[19] In 191 BC, however, the Romans under Manius Acilius Glabrio) routed him at Thermopylae), forcing him to withdraw to Asia Minor. The Romans followed up their success by invading Anatolia, and the decisive victory of Scipio Asiaticus at Magnesia ad Sipylum (190 BC), following the defeat of Hannibal at sea off Side, delivered Asia Minor into their hands.[13]

Alban hills:
Now, the early Octavians, from house of Octavius, which was the house Julius Caesar was from, sided with Ptolomy, despite the fact that they themselves are partially descended from Gauls from the Alban hills dating back to Alba longa.
Instead of admit this, they choose to insist that Alba longa is a myth and legend, and instead their real ancestors are the Gods.
Octavia Gens origin
The Octavii originally came from the Volscian town of Velitrae, in the Alban Hills. The historian Suetonius writes,
Towards the end of the Republic, it became fashionable for noble families to trace their origin to the gods and heroes of olden time,

Antiochus:
Now, Ptolomy V is actually related to Antiochus III, through Antiochuses patriarch grandfather, Antiochus, who was the brother of the Ptolomy patriarch, ptolomy.
Antiochus)
Antiochus (Greek: Ἀντίοχος; fl. 4th century BC) was a Macedonian) man who lived during the time of Philip II of Macedon (ruled 359-336 BC). He originally came from Orestis), Macedonia.
Antiochus served as an officer under Philip II, and gained distinction as a military general. Antiochus was from an upper noble family. His father was probably called Seleucus, his brother was called Ptolemy)

Beli mawr:
Therefore, when Beli mawr claims to be related to the mother of Jesus, it is actually not impossible that a person with an Anti-Roman agenda, could in fact be a Belgian.
As the Antiochuses are a North western branch of a family which inter-bred with Messenaeans and fathered some of the most well known emperors of our time, including Egyptian emperors, and Roman emperors, who they later grew to despise.
Beli mawr
Beli Mawr ("Beli the Great") was an ancestor figure in Middle Welsh literature and genealogies. He is the father of Cassivellaunus, Arianrhod, Lludd Llaw Eraint, Llefelys, and Afallach. In certain medieval genealogies he is listed as the son or husband of Anna, cousin of Mary, mother of Jesus.
Cleopatra 1:
And Cleopatra I was likely a Belgae also.
And she was the daughter of Antiochus III that married Ptolomy V after her fathers death.
Cleopatra I
Cleopatra I Syra (Greek: Κλεοπάτρα Σύρα; c. 204 – 176 BC) was a princess of the Seleucid Empire, Queen of Ptolemaic Egypt by marriage to Ptolemy V of Egypt, and regent of Egypt during the minority of their son, Ptolemy VI, from her husband’s death in 180 BC until her own death in 176 BC.
And she was the daughter of Antiochus III that married Ptolomy V after her fathers death.
Life
Cleopatra I was the daughter of Antiochus III the Great, King of the Seleucid Empire, and Queen Laodice III.

2020.09.16 15:05 Mathemologist Modalities in the Logic of Qualia

Qualia refers to the ineffability of sense experience, grounded and contrasted with the principle of physicality (that we are sharing a real world). Let us study this spectrum of effability. Effability is the capacity for an object to be encoded and transmitted by a subject. Effability is contrasted with intentionality, which is the capacity for a subject to encode and transmit objects of its awareness. Two sides of the coin of experience. Qualia involves language, as a behavioral pattern. Language and psychology involve communication within a society of different agents. These are inseparable components in the problem of qualia. I want to approach from the angle of language, and in particular formal language. Most particularly, I want to talk about qualia using the language of monads). I hope that this approach will lend itself to applications in artificial intelligence, and synthetic qualia.
First, I will brief you in the ways that categories encode logic. I will assume that you know what a category is, or at least know their simple anatomy. On the formal language side of things, consider this take on intension. Intensionality here says that identity types for terms of types can have more structure than binary truth-falsity. If we take distinctions of symbols as primitive, rather than individuate symbols, then the capacity to distinguish and identify is enlarged. Classical formal logic is nearly synonymous with symbolic model theory, concerning propositions or axioms within formal languages, built from grammars on strings of symbols from alphabets, which are (usually finite) sets. Martin-Löf's approach is more natural to human cognition and semiosis. We often index various ways in which things differ, so a logic of things ought to treat differences of things as things, too. For a community to begin using this kind of logic, they must have arduous and arguably distracting conversations about these new logical foundations, and I understand that not everyone will want to engage here. This means that the correspondences between syntax and semantics must be formally verifiable in a constructive way, and we should use the highest registers of formal language in expressing and condensing the systems used. This will allow us to provide flexible, natural, clear, and valid foundations for formal reason. The reason of forms, the gentle art of transformation.
Intensional types accommodate or internalize extensional types. Extensionality is an intensional monadality, a reflection of a structural monad reflected in propositional language. Ironically, Extensionize is a dramatic reduction of formal structure, and this leads to confusion in some applications of type theory. For this reason, we will take a generalized formal approach taking distinctions to be individual primitives, and generally reasoning about collections as consisting of distinctions. The beauty of univalent homotopy type theory is that it allows us to describe and reason with and about changes of difference. We can understand semiosis better by assuming the language of transforming distinctions.
(What happens when we start organizing monadic descent learning into univalent homotopy types?)
Generally, distinctions are partitions, and typed partitions are simply terms of function types. Functions are typed partitions of typed partitions, and then also [ ...typed partitions of typed partitions of... ]. This is a great meta-language for artificial intelligence. Intelligence has the capacity to distinguish recursively, and consistently. This consistency is at the basis of all science and reason, even when we abstract consistency consistently. Consistency justifies persistence, and what persists is real enough for me.
Mathematicians, in their endless exploration of structured patterning, enjoy a reality outlined by consistencies. We move along lines of reason to verify the consistency of structured pattern and patterned structure. Consistency is the mechanism giving coherence to Reason and cohesion to Thought.
Concerning Hegel
I want to talk about physical objects, impressions of objects, organisms, ideas, spirit, forms, all of these things, as objects in higher categories and more general structures which can be spoken of using higher categories. Intricate algebras, logics, calculi, algorithms, languages, codes, cyphers, spells, and transmutations should be cast in a unifying mathematical framework, which leads the webworker to engage in even higher registers of synthetic formal sciences of information, proof, validity, and exchange. If we are to automate and synthesize the intelligence expressed by humans and machines and nature in these areas, then we should have pure and simple foundations for the formalization of semiosis and psychology, as well as for science. The better the bridges, the better exchange of ideas. Let's be bridge architects!

Let's build functor networks!

2020.09.14 19:29 kjonesatjaagnet 3 keys to understanding blockchain

Blockchain technology can be very difficult to understand. While most of us may have heard the term before and have some idea of what it means, it can be a challenge to really get at the meat of what makes the blockchain so important.
I believe, however, that blockchain is actually easier to understand than you might think, you just have to grasp these three key facts.

Blockchain isn't bitcoin

One major misconception that often pops up is that people assume blockchain and bitcoin are synonyms. This can be especially problematic when people judge blockchain based on bitcoin's flaws.
Bitcoin is not blockchain, it is a use case for blockchain. Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of bitcoin, initially crafted a blockchain as a way to confirm and keep track of bitcoin transactions, but the technology has since grown beyond bitcoin to many different use cases.
A more accurate comparison would be that blockchain is like the internet and bitcoin is like email. While email was one of the first use cases for the internet, the internet can do so much more than just send emails.

Blockchain isn't just for transactions

Blockchain is essentially an immutable database that may be controlled through a decentralized model. It offers a great deal of security for data since it often secures the data through highly complex algorithms, and with a decentralized database, other users can instantly tell if someone has messed with one version of the database.
This can be very useful for keeping records on transactions, but that isn't its only usage. For example, the healthcare industry can use blockchain tech to keep patient data private and give patients control of who accesses their data.
Other potential uses include:
  • Artists can receive credit for their artwork by giving it a block on a blockchain.
  • It can speed up the process for smart contracts.
  • It can confirm impressions for advertisements.
  • It can reward customers with tokens on loyalty platforms.
Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what blockchain can accomplish when it comes to data, which brings us to our last point.

It puts people in charge of their data

One major issue this past decade has been customer privacy. Facebook has gotten into hot water for selling user data to advertisers, and facial recognition companies have had legal problems as well.
Blockchain can offer a better solution to these privacy concerns by giving people control of their own data. By securing certain data, such as identifiable documents or creative works on a blockchain, users can control who accesses their data and how they gain recompense for offering that data.
Blockchain can thus create a more equitable world where customers, advertisers and businesses can come to reasonable understandings when it comes to data usage and access. This in fact in the ultimate key to understanding blockchain, it isn't just a new technology, it's a new way to handle how we "handle" data.

2020.09.14 19:25 naroLsraLteiN_isback Is earth actually flat?

Hey, Vsauce. Michael here. In 2003, researchers did the measurements and found that Kansas is in fact literally flatter than a pancake. Of course, the Earth is not flat, the Earth is round. Otherwise travellers would be falling off the edge all the time. Right? Wrong.
If the Earth was not a ball shaped, but was instead a flat disk, like this plate, well with the weight, density and thickness, living in the middle could feel pretty normal. But as you move toward the edge, gravity on a disk Earth would slightly skew, pushing at a greater and greater angle back toward the centre. My friend Nick from 'yeti dynamics' put together this great simulation. The person and buildings obviously aren't to scale but check out how such increasingly diagonal gravity would work. Although this is a flat disk, it would feel to a runner headed toward the edge, like they were fighting to climb up a steeper and steeper hill. The building foundations behind the runner reflect how you would have to build structures, closer and closer to the edge, so that people living in them always felt like down was at right angles to the floor - the way we feel it on our big, round Earth. As you approach the edge, things would get scary. Remember, this is a flat Earth, but it would feel like a sheer drop off. What's really cool is that contrary to the "don't fall off the edge" fear, on a flat world because of gravity, the scary risk would actually be falling away from the edge and rolling all the way back to the centre. Once you stepped over the edge, instead of falling off into space, you'd be able to relax. It would be a nice level place.
This model, of course, neglects the fact that such a planet shape would be impossible. Anything as massive as the Earth, shaped like a flat disc, would, under its own gravity, naturally collapse back into a ball. This is why in outer space everything more than few hundred miles in diameter is round. Or so we've been told. What if gravity isn't real? What if the Earth is, in fact, flat and science has been wrong all along?
It's a misconception that Christopher Columbus discovered that the Earth is round. Virtually every scholar and major religion in the West accepted Earth's rotundity, since at least the time of the Ancient Greeks, who, for instance, had noticed that boats disappear bottom first when sailing away. And, as you walk north and south, stars pop in and out of the view. The misconception that only a few hundred years ago lots and lots of people believed the Earth was flat likely began in the modern era, as a sort of insult. Well, your people recently thought the Earth was flat, so why should we believe you now? The smear was repeated and published so often it became accepted as historical fact. "Flat-Earther" became synonymous with "Anti-science". It might seem flat over short distances, but over longer ones, well the Earth is pretty darn curvy. The Verrazano–Narrows Bridge, connecting Staten Island and Brooklyn, had to be designed with Earth's roundness in mind. Its 2 towers, separated by 1300 metres, and perfectly vertical, are nonetheless 41 milimetres further apart at the top than at the bottom because of Earth's curvature. In the 3rd century BC, Eratosthenes measured the differences between shadows cast by poles in Syene and Alexandria to calculate, more than 2000 years before rockets and space travel, the circumference of the entire globular Earth, with, for the time, impressive accuracy. Word got around that the Earth was a round shape after that.
But in 1906, Wilbur Glenn Voliva became head of a slightly bizarre religious sect that pretty much ran the city of Zion, Illinois. Voliva believed that the Earth was actually flat and he enforced flat Earth's teachings in schools in Zion. He also enforced that belief on really anyone who entered the city. Voliva believed not only that the Earth was flat, but that the sun was only few thousand miles away from Earth. Not 93 million. He also believed that the sun was only 32 miles across, not 860 000. He sounds crazy, or does he? You see, the same phenomenon Eratosthenes measured could be explained by a flat Earth, if the sun were only few thousand miles away and 32 miles across - the math would work out the same.
Today, with the power of the Internet, modern day flat Earthers have picked up where Voliva left off. They have quite good explanations for any evidence you throw at them that the Earth is round. Circumnavigation is really just a flat circle path. The round shadow Earth casts on the Moon during a lunar eclipse could also be made by a flat disc. Time zones are caused by spotlight sun, and remember how gravity would be totally different on a disc-shaped planet? Well, they argue that gravity, as we know it, simply doesn't exist. The flat disc of Earth is merely accelerating up at 9.8 metres per second.
As for all of the photos and video evidence we now have that the Earth is round, thanks to space exploration, well all of that material is completely fabricated. A hoax, perpetrated by Big Globe. Space agencies, airlines, globe manufacturers. They are reaping the rewards of our ignorant belief that the Earth is actually round. They know, of course, that it's flat. And they're hiding that truth from us. Is it merely a coincidence that the logo used by the Flat Earth Society is a projection of Earth, centred on the North Pole, and also happens to be the projection used by the United Nations? Are these people for real? Probably not most of them.
But this is the crocks of Poe's Law. An adage that states that at their extremes, parody of extremism and sincere extremism are difficult to distinguish. Although clever, flat Earth theories are predominantly ad hoc explanations - excuses made up on the spot that only address one issue and don't fit all the evidence. Science, of course, rejects a theory if a better one fits more of our observations, but why the egoistical obsession with OUR observations? A cosmic ray particle could use the very same scientific method we use and conclude that the Earth was, in fact, flat.
You see, at speeds near the speeds of light, time slows down and lengths contract. One way we know this is that unstable muons, created in the upper atmosphere by the collision of cosmic rays with the atmosphere, should mostly decay before reaching Earth's surface. But yet, we detect a lot of them down here, because they're crazy fast speed literally means that, from our perspective, their physics runs according to a slower clock; and to them, the distance they have to cover to the surface during their short lives is, from their perspective, much much shorter than it appears to us. If you're a cosmic ray proton travelling at 99.9999999999991% the speed of light, Earth would appear to be only 17 metres thick in the direction you travel. So Earth is flat to them, but round to us. It is ball shaped to some observers and flat to others. There doesn't appear to be a single most correct-est, in all circumstances, answer.
Susan Haack compares knowledge to a crossword puzzle. New answers interweave with old ones, they all reinforce one another. The clues are the questions we ask, and the way the answers fall into a predetermined grid, well, that's our confidence that we're on the right track. But that doesn't mean one day there will be a finished puzzle - a complete answer. Recall The New York Times famous 1996 crossword puzzle that came out the day before the US election between Bill Clinton and Bob Dole. The clue for 39 across was pretty crazy. You seemed to need to be able to tell the future to answer it correctly. It simply said, "Lead story in tomorrow's newspaper (blank) elected". Well that blank could be Clinton or Bob Dole and who's to say which one until tomorrow? There's no way to know. But, as it turned out, the answer was Clinton, or Bob Dole. No matter which you wrote in, all the other clues fit. For instance, a "black Halloween animal" could either be a cat or a bat. Our knowledge about the outside world might be the same. A puzzle with no answer key, just the reassurance that the answers we think we know fit together, so they're probably correct. Though there's always the possibility that the answer to one clue, or all of them, will fundamentally not have a single definite satisfying answer. The puzzle may be playable forever.
I like what Richard Feynman says about this. "Some people say 'How can you live without knowing?' I do not know what they mean. I always live without knowing - that is easy. How you get to know is what I want to know." You know?
And as always, thanks for watching.

2020.09.09 19:30 AntonioMachado [2017] Domenico Losurdo — Has China Turned to Capitalism? — Reflections on the Transition from Capitalism to Socialism

Artigo: https://sociologicalfragments.files.wordpress.com/2019/05/losurdo-defence_of_modern_day_china-1.pdf
  • If we analyse the first 15 years of Soviet Russia, we see war communism, then the New Economic Policy (NEP), and finally the complete collectivisation of the economy (including agriculture) in quick succession. These were three totally different experiments, but all of them were an attempt to build a post-capitalist society. Why should we be shocked that, in the course of the more than 80 years that followed these experiments, other variations like market socialism and Chinese socialism appeared? Let’s concentrate for now on Soviet Russia: which of the three experiments mentioned is closest to the socialism espoused by Marx and Engels?
  • [the collectivisation of poverty] is a vision that we can call populist, one that was criticised with great precision by the Communist Manifesto: there is “nothing easier than to give Christian asceticism a Socialist coat of paint”; the “first movements of the proletariat” often feature claims in the name of “universal asceticism and a rough egalitarianism” [and for this reason Lenin] was far from the view that socialism would be the collectivisation of poverty, a more or less egalitarian distribution of privation
  • It was essential to overcome the desperate mass poverty and starvation that followed the catastrophe of World War I and the civil war, and to restart the economy and develop the productive forces. [the abandonment of war communism] was necessary not only to improve the living conditions of the people and to broaden the social basis of consensus on revolutionary power; it was also about avoiding an increase in Russia’s lag in development compared to the more advanced capitalist countries, which could affect the national security of the country emerging from the October Revolution, not to mention it being surrounded and besieged by the capitalist powers [...] [During the NEP] desperate hunger and starvation disappeared, but social inequalities increased [and for this reason] literally tens of thousands of Bolshevik workers [...] tore up their party cards in disgust at the NEP, which they re-named the “New Extortion from the Proletariat.”
  • one can understand the scandal and a persistent feeling of repugnance for the market and the commodity economy at the introduction of the NEP; it was above all the growing danger of war that caused the abandonment of the NEP and the removal of every trace of the private economy. The wholesale collectivisation of the country’s agriculture provoked a civil war that was fought ruthlessly by both sides. And yet, after this horrible tragedy, the Soviet economy seemed to proceed marvellously: the rapid development of modern industry was interwoven with the construction of a welfare state that guaranteed the economic and social rights of citizens in a way that was unprecedented. This, however, was a model that fell into crisis after a couple of decades
  • there was no longer any application of the principle that Marx said drove socialism — remuneration according to the quantity and quality of work delivered. You could say that during the final stage of Soviet society, the dialectic of capitalist society that Marx described in The Poverty of Philosophy had been overturned [...] In the last years of the Soviet Union, the tight control exercised by the political powers over civil society coincided with a substantial amount of anarchy in workplaces. It was the reversal of the dialectic of capitalist society [tight control in the workplaces and anarchy in the market as a whole]
  • China’s history is different. [...] For much of these 85 years in power, China, partly or totally ruled by the communists, was characterised by the coexistence of different forms of economy and property. [...] Mao Zedong clarified the meaning of the revolution taking place [...] This was a model characterised, at the economic level, by the coexistence of different forms of ownership; at the level of political power, by a dictatorship exercised by the “revolutionary classes” as well as the leadership of the Communist Party of China. [...] It is, therefore, a matter of distinguishing between the economic expropriation and the political expropriation of the bourgeoisie. Only the latter should be carried out to the end, while the former, if not contained within clear limits, risks undermining the development of the productive forces. [...] After taking off in the second half of the 1920s, this model revealed a remarkable continuity [however] After distinguishing itself for decades for its peculiar history and its commitment to stimulating production through competition not only between individuals but also between different forms of ownership, the China that arose from the Cultural Revolution resembled the Soviet Union to an extraordinary degree in its last years of existence: the socialist principle of compensation based on the amount and quality of work delivered was substantially liquidated, and disaffection, disengagement, absenteeism and anarchy reigned in the workplace. [...] Then populism became the target of Deng Xiaoping’s criticism. He called on the Marxists to realise “that poverty is not socialism, that socialism means eliminating poverty.” [...] Deng Xiaoping had the historic merit of understanding that socialism had nothing to do with the more or less egalitarian distribution of poverty and privation. In the eyes of Marx and Engels, socialism was superior to capitalism not only because it ensured a more equitable distribution of resources but also, and especially, because it ensured a faster and more equal development of social wealth, and to achieve this goal, socialism stimulated competition by affirming and putting into practice the principle of remuneration according to the quantity and quality of work delivered. Deng Xiaoping’s reforms reintroduced in China the model [of competition between different forms of economy and property that was abandoned during the Cultural Revolution] [...] If we analyse the history of China, not beginning with the founding of the People’s Republic, but as early as the first “liberated” areas being set up and governed by communists, we will find out that it was not China of the reforms of Deng Xiaoping, but China in the years of the Great Leap Forward and of the Cultural Revolution that was the exception or the anomaly
  • after having played a part as an essential feature of the twentieth century, the conflict between populism and Marxism is far from over
  • [for Gramsci] the war communism about to prevail in Soviet Russia was at the same time legitimised tactically and delegitimised strategically, legitimised immediately and delegitimised with an eye to the future. The “collectivism of poverty and suffering” is justified by the specific conditions prevailing in Russia at the time: capitalism would not be able to do anything better. It was understood, however, that the privation had to be overcome as quickly as possible.
  • Those who read the NEP as synonymous with a return to capitalism committed two serious errors: ignoring the issue of the fight against mass poverty and thus the development of the productive forces; they also wrongly identified the economically privileged class and the politically dominant class [because of failing to distinguish between economic power and political power]
  • socialism is not the equal sharing of poverty or deprivation, but the definitive and widespread overcoming of these conditions. From outside of Russia, Gramsci countered populism with particular rigour and consistency.
  • the [populist] position [...] had nothing to do with Marx and Engels: according to the Communist Manifesto, capitalism is destined to be overcome because, after developing the productive forces with unprecedented scope and speed, it became an obstacle to their further development, as confirmed by the recurrent crises of overproduction.
  • Populism continues to make its presence felt more than ever in the dismissive judgment that the Western left passes on today’s China
  • Throughout history, the communist parties have won power only in countries that are relatively undeveloped economically and technologically; for this reason, they had to fight against not one but two types of inequality: 1) inequality existing on the global scale between the most and least developed countries; and 2) the inequality existing within each individual country. Only if we take into account both sides of the struggle can we adequately take stock of policy reform. With regard to the first type of inequality, there are no doubts: internationally, global inequality is levelling out sharply. Yes, China is gradually catching up to the most advanced Western capitalist countries. It is a turning point [marking] the end of 500 years of Western predominance [...] a period characterised by extreme inequality in international relations
  • The fight against global inequality is part of the struggle against colonialism and neo-colonialism. Mao understood this well [and] In fact, the newly founded People’s Republic of China became the target of a deadly embargo imposed by the United States [...] At the White House, one president succeeds another, but the embargo remains, and it is so ruthless as to include medicines, tractors and fertilisers
  • There is no doubt: Deng Xiaoping’s reforms greatly stimulated the fight against global inequality and thus placed the economic (and political) independence of China on a solid footing. High technology is no longer a monopoly of the West, either. Now we see the prospect of overcoming the international division of labour, which for centuries has subjected people outside the West to a servile or semi-servile condition or relegated them in the bottom of the labour market. It is thus outlining a worldwide revolution that the Western left does not seem to be noticing. [in reality] those who condemn China today as a whole due to its inequalities would do well to consider that Deng Xiaoping also promoted his reform policies as a part of the fight against planetary inequality
  • when scarcity reaches an extreme level, the struggle against inequality can only be tackled effectively by focusing on the development of the productive forces. That is, even with regard to the second type of inequality, the inequality within a single country, Deng Xiaoping’s reforms eliminated once and for all the absolute qualitative inequality [between life and death] inherent in starvation and the risk of starvation. Of course, once this scourge has been ended once and for all, it is time to address the problem of the struggle against quantitative inequality, as well as to achieve what Deng Xiaoping called “common prosperity”. There is no doubt: the achievement of this goal is still far away [however] The changes that have occurred in recent decades in China might be illustrated with a metaphor. There are two trains running from a station called “underdevelopment” and heading towards a station called “development.” One of the two trains is very fast, while the other train is slower: consequently, the distance between the two increases progressively. [...] It is clear that the distance between the two trains travelling at different speeds widens, but we should not lose sight of three fundamental points: in the first place, the direction (the development) is the same; second, today some interior regions [slower train] are seeing their income grow faster than that of the coastal regions [faster train]; third, because of the impressive urbanisation process (which pushes the population to the most developed regions and areas), the faster train tends to carry more passengers.
  • However, the implicit warning in the values reported by the Gini coefficient still applies: if not contained in a proper and timely manner, quantitative inequality can also result in social and political destabilisation [...] Mao was aware of this problem [likewise] While initiating his policies of reform and openness, Deng was aware of their inherent risks. In October 1978, he cautioned, “We shall not allow a new bourgeoisie to take shape.”
  • [ironically] The campaign of the West for the “democratisation” of China is taking place just as many political analysts are forced to see the decline of democracy in the West. [and the rise of] “plutocracy”; now the forces of private and corporate wealth have already taken hold of political institutions, while the rest of the population is cut off [...] We can conclude that the on-going campaign for the “democratisation” of China is actually a campaign for its plutocratisation, to turn in the opposite direction the “political expropriation” of the bourgeoisie that has taken place since 1949 [...] so that the bourgeoisie could enormously increase its influence in society and again pave the way for conquest of political power.
  • [Communist China is] the greatest anti-colonial revolution in history to engage in a long-term process of building a post-capitalist and socialist society. Which side will the Western left take?

2020.09.09 08:43 BorutFlis Can word2vec be used in text classfication?

I am doing text classification. As of yet I am not using a very sophisticated method. It is a simple bag-of words model. The word2vec technique seems very appealing to my project as it takes care of synonyms. However as far as I understand this technique creates vector representation for each word and not on document basis. The vectors are then used to calculate cosine similarity. My question is can you use this vectors for text classification. As I feel like this is the problem in my corpus, there are too many synonyms.

2020.09.08 21:14 Pringles__ Stop developing oneitis and start being authentic and having abundance

1. Oneitis
Oneitis is a toxic mindset (or disease) where a man falls deeply and wholly in love with a woman to the point of obsession in a short period of time. Oneitis occurs to men who don't approach women and have limited dating options. Such men are often considered as incels (involuntary celibates). When these men find a woman, they put her on a pedestal and do all their best to impress her and to attract her (neediness). Oneitis occurs when you see a world of scarcity and not of abundance.
2. Example
Before going further, I'd like to give an example that is inspired by a story that occurred to me a year ago and that has certainly happened to you as well.
- Bryan is 30 and works for Google. Because of his toxic shame, he hasn't dated any woman in his life. He is afraid of them and doesn't dare to approach and ask them out.
- One day, Tatiana joins his office. Her being friendly, she initiates a lot of conversations with her colleagues, including Bryan. As a result, Bryan starts to like her. Him being unable to ask her out, he just talks to her and becomes obsessed with her, he falls deeply and wholly in love with Tatiana.
- 1 month later, Bryan expresses his feelings to Tatiana and tells her he likes her, which confuses her because he had been acting as a friend and a colleague all this time and wasn't expecting him to express his emotions. Her being a very nice person, she politely tells him that she's not interested.
- Bryan becomes frustrated and blames Tatiana for rejecting him. Why would she reject a guy who had been so nice with her?
3. Are you a nice guy?
A nice guy is an adult male who portrays himself as being nice but does it to get something in return. That's what we call a covert contract. In other words, the nice guy is needy. He prioritises the perceptions others have of him before his. As a result, he puts girls on a pedestal.
Nice guys are nice with every girl and expect something in return by being nice. Neediness means that nice guys feel the need to be approved and validated by girls. Fundamentally, this is the same thing.
The nice guy behaviour is toxic in every aspect of the relationship: 1/ for himself, 2/ for the people who are around him. Nice guys are not assertive, they make covert contracts, and blame the girl when she doesn't reciprocate.
Nice guys are also very boring because they tend to agree with everything or to shape the things they say to be validated by girls. Examples:
  • Girl: I like Justin Bieber. You (who don't like Justin Bieber): "oh nice - smiles".
  • Girl: I don't understand why my boyfriend left me. You: I don't understand either, you are beautiful and amazing !!!!!!!
  • Girl: are you looking for sex? You: No no no no.
4. Being honest makes you non-needy
If you want to stop being a nice guy, you must carry your fucking balls and start being honest with yourself and people (including girls).
And I said "carry your fucking balls" and not "be confident". I see many men victimising themselves when someone tells them to "be confident": QQ EASIER SAID THAN DONE, QQ BE CONFIDENT HERE, BE CONFIDENT THERE. Carry your fucking balls you pussies. Do you think it's easier for me? Do you think it's easier for all the guys who are carrying their balls?
If you want to succeed in life and with girls, you must be honest, bold and vulnerable. You say and do things because you think them, not because you want to impress someone. Being honest makes you bold. Being bold makes you vulnerable.
  • If a girl tells you she likes Justin Bieber but you don't, tell her that you find JB stupid.
  • If a girl tells you her boyfriend left her, don't try to get her approval. Don't try to dodge the subject either. Instead, you should try to reassure her unconditionally, to make her feel better, not for you.
  • If a girl asks if you are looking for sex and you do, answer yes. You can say "right now, yes" if you mean it, instead of just "yes". This very bold statement will make her polarise very fast. That's the key of seduction.
5. Girls are neutral magnets that must be polarised
Consider a girl as a neutral magnet and you as a magnetic field.
If you try to impress her and get her attention, you will shape your words and acts to get her approval. This is neediness and nice guy behaviour. The magnetic field that you will emit will break the neutral magnet and make it unreceptive. You will turn off the girl and make her unattracted.
If you are bold, honest and vulnerable with her, you will portray confidence and non-neediness because you won't care about what she thinks of your words and acts. By being yourself (honest and authentic), you will portray a magnetic field that can potentially activate the magnet and make it receptive. Sometimes, the magnet can still break.
6. Approach girls
You will seduce girls if you are honest, bold, and vulnerable with people in general. I remind you that you must be authentic even with your friends and other people in general, not just with potential girls.
You can even approach girls with that mindset, it will work.
Regardless of your objectives, if you approach girls and you are honest, bold and vulnerable with them, you will polarise some and get some numbers
If you tell a girl "excuse me, I know this is random, but I like your umbrella, and I want to ask you out, can I get your number?", this will probably be random in your eyes but if you really mean it, the authenticity of your words will make her laugh and she will give you her number.
So start approaching girls to see abundance in your world.
7. Abundance and scarcity
Oneitis is a disease that affects men who see scarcity in their lives. If you want to no longer see scarcity, you must see abundance.
To see abundance in your life you must meditate and thank life for all it gave you. By doing this, you'll hopefully realise that you don't need anything else to be happy. You don't need a girl to be happy, you don't need sex to be happy, you don't need a girlfriend to be happy. Nothing makes you happy but you.
To see abundance in girls, you must approach women, define your objectives and your criteria.
8. Be a picky man
I look for a partner who is very honest and vulnerable, who is very curious, has life objectives, is a good communicator, doesn't need me to be happy, and is emotionally mature. A partner who is basically like me, because we attract what we are and we are attracted by what we are.
I don't need a girl to be happy, so I don't want a girl who needs me to be happy.
Looks-wise, I only approach girls I find beautiful with decent looks.
Being picky doesn't make you less successful with girls, on the contrary it makes you more valuable.
9. Authenticity
Everything I said in this post must come naturally. It shouldn't be forced.
  • You are honest with girls because you want to be honest with people.
  • You are picky because you have a list of criteria.
  • You don't text her because you don't feel the need to text her, not because you want to ignore her.
10. Texting girls just for logistics should be authentic
Many people in this subreddit tell you to text only for logistics. Although this is true, it shouldn't be forced. It should be done because you mean it, because you don't feel the need to text more than that. You don't want to invest more time in the girl because you are not interested in her yet, not because you want to manipulate her.
I for instance don't text girls because I don't feel the need to get their attention. I have multiple dating options and can approach other girls if I want to hang out with them. So, I don't need to get anybody's attention. When I see them, I make them spend a good time unconditionally, without expecting something in return. If I don't like them, it's okay. I will just finish the date with them without changing my mood and I won't recontact them.
  • If you are overpresent by texting, you are being a nice guy, very needy and a blue pill taker. These are all synonyms.
  • If you manipulate girls by ignoring them on purpose, you are being a narcissist and girls will see through your bullshit very fast.
You are now wondering "so should I ignore them or text them??????". There lies your problem.
11. As men, we must own our life and don't try to blame or impress anyone
When a girl postpones a date, I give her a 2nd chance. If she postpones again or can't seem to make time for me, I stop texting her. I only want to see people who want to see me.
One girl that I asked out cancelled our date twice (in advance). The 2nd time, I just told her "listen, if you want to see me, let me know". I didn't reject her but I wanted to let her know that I wouldn't bother asking again. 2 weeks later, she recontacts me to talk to me about something that happened to her life. I replied normally, I didn't feel the need to "ignore her" because I had other dating options and didn't blame her for cancelling the dates. At the end of our discussion, she asked me out. I hadn't brought the subject of the dates in the discussion.
The key here is that you don't need to blame anyone or impress anyone when you are 1/ confident in yourself, 2/ see a world of abundance.
12. Αlpha males
Alpha males are self-centered. They don't try to impress girls (neediness) but they don't blame them either (narcissism). They are just themselves: fierce, strong, competitive, and sexually proud. Because they are what they are and do what they do, prospective mates are attracted.
13. Conclusion
Seduction is not about impressing people and it is not about doing something you are not comfortable with. Seduction is about being honest with yourself and with people. You are honest with yourself by acknowledging that you want to meet girls, don't deny it. You are honest with people because you value honesty and don't feel the need to shape reality or give half truths.
By being honest with yourself and with people, you will be really loved but also really hated. That's the key of seduction, you are yourself and are not afraid that some people hate you because you know that there are people who will like you for who you are.
If you can't be yourself, you won't polarise anyone. Nobody will hate you but nobody will love you either. So, don't try to impress people. Just be yourself. You don't need to use "pickup lines" to seduce girls. What you need to do is to clearly tell them you want to date them and ask them out. There is no problem in being honest with people.
14. My current experience
You don't have to do it directly if you are not comfortable with. There is nothing wrong in doing things progressively.
Like for everything, you can go step by step. Look, I stopped eating sugar for instance, although I have always been very fit. The first step was to stop soda, then I stopped eating sweets and chocolate, and now I don't even eat biscuits/cake or anything that contains sugar added artificially. I am very happy like this. I don't feel the need to eat sugar, although I'd still eat your birthday cake.
My current self-development went step by step as well. I started asking female friends out, just to start being more assertive, and it worked very well. I made them spend a very good time and they were happy at the end of the day. I then planned 3-4 city trips with a particular girl and again, I made her spend a very good time unconditionally, because I invited her to something I really wanted to do. I invited like 3-4 girls like this. I was very honest with the girls and stopped putting them on a pedestal. These changes made me realise what seduction was about.
After these pseudo-dates, I asked other girls out. Last week, I have had the occasion to get laid with 2 girls. The first one we were in a Netflix night and I ended up being caressing her hair and her head was on my lap. Her behaviour was screaming "fuck me" (I can read her very well), yet I didn't go further because there wasn't an emotional connection. The second one, I invited her for a drink and 3min into the conversation, we were already talking about sex. She basically knew my intentions and we could have gone further, yet she was too stressed of her life (not me) for anything to happen that night.
Right now, I can ask girls out, I can make them spend a good time unconditionally, without feeling the need to get laid with them, and I can be honest, bold, and vulnerable with anyone. My next step is to increase my cold approaching. I have already approached 1 random girl and she gave me her number, yet I'm not comfortable with cold approaching yet because I haven't done it yet. My current dates are scheduled in social media or texting. I just text for logistics as I don't need to talk to the girls.
At the end of the day, what matters is that you overcome your fears so you can be honest, bold, and vulnerable with anyone. It doesn't matter how long it takes you, it doesn't matter how you do it, what matters is that you do it. The journey is as exciting as the dates themselves.
15. References
Everything I wrote comes from my own mind and reflects my current mindset.
What allowed me to get there was reading 2 books:
  • No More Mr Nice Guy by Robert A. Glover
  • Models by Mark Manson
I read these books only once a month ago. You don't have to read them 5 times. What you have to do is to start applying these changes in real life, like I did.

2020.09.06 21:13 Splatfan1 yandere simulator builds are just not made to last

i am thinking about this stupid game a lot. and i am also watching stupid youtube videos a lot.
a few days ago i was rewatching stopdrop&retro's kickshaming. basically the guy talks about kickstarteindiegogo scams for 20 minutes. very entertaining. there are a lot of things he made vids on - some robots, some consoles, even some AI. but this was about portable video game consoles.
basically, there were two portable console scams - the pgs and the smach z. in one of them, he talks about how these consoles were made with off the shelf components. mostly a linx tablet. and this is to serve as prototypes. however, what can be done with these prototypes further in development? do pgs and smach z guys go to linx and ask for permittion to use their tablets for their consoles? of course not. why? these are not meant to ever go past the prototype stage. theyre made for an easy scam because most people will fall for it. i even went to the smach z project and of course, nobody has received their units. and this is when we circle back to yansim.
you see, the aoi model and the rest of the game asset studio bunch are meant to be placeholders. but its been 6 years. and its not the 6 years itself that is the problem. the problem is that in the past 6 years the models have had countless animations done for them by the volunteers. a lot of textures, hair models and other such things. but where do we go now? i know that it works a little differently because dev has bought these assets, but our alex wants a triple A title. so what does he do? go to game asset studio and request a partnership to be free of this weird state the models are in? either way, now he wants to replace it and in the little cute interactive cutscene at the end you can see new models. which is fine, but what about all the hair models? remember, there would be around 100 models for the students and countless others from yandere chans custom hair list. but these are mostly just cosmetics that can be redone easily with maybe a texture change to fit better with the new artstyle and a little polygon manipulation to fit them on the new heads. this is fine. theres also the problem of grey haired aoi model being synonymous with the game, but yandere chans design is simple and could probably adapt easily. we have the stolen asset problem - like the pool. or at least i think. i know its from another game. yes a p0rn game but that is small potatoes to it being from another game in the first place. the grass texture is also infamous for being stolen and while i think he replaced it, it still shouldnt have happened. because you see, placeholders are fine. if youre making a game and you use a box from crash bandicoot, that is fine. what is not fine is releasing the game to the public and getting money from it. but even that can somehow be excused.
what concerns me the most are the animations. we all saw yandere kun, right? despite being a very similar model to yandere chan and only a little taller, everything breaks and looks like crap. of course its an easter egg but remember, alex chose to leave it in the game in its current state and didnt do anything for years despite him being a rather popular easter egg. the new models have completely different proportions. and remember what i said about the hair models? how these could be fixed rather easily? how would osanas hair work? one of the games earliest delays was because osanas new model (which was also a delay) clipped with its hair. if this clipping of one character's hair was a delay, what do you think will happen next? the game has a lot of animations. cutscenes, doing something, walking, holding, all things you can think of. tell me, how are they going to work? in short: no, they wont. these wont work. nothing will work. the next build after he changes the models will be a bug ridden mess even outside of animation bugs. his code will find a way to fuck it up.
why? because nothing in this game is designed to last. the gameplay is repetitive. the builds are made to milk the yandere cow dry. the code is that of a beginner creating a simple cute anime game for people to play for free with few characters because otherwise youre left with 2 fps. the demo can be beaten in every way in a few hours and thats it, your 6 years of waiting is complete. and its because there is a disease festering in the games very core. that disease is cumdev. the developer himself has no self respect and is a magnet for the worst and best kinds of people to make vids on him. whether its the game sleuth or someone competent, its just getting worse and worse. whether its the cum chalice or very real problem with his behavior on streaming sites, its getting worse and worse. alex mahan will not last. and nothing he creates will last as anything other than infamous examples of how NOT to make a game. of how to screw up. of how to take a simple idea and corrupt it so much that it becomes barely recognizable from its original 4chan idea post. alex mahan is an art thief and an asset thief and outside of new scams that prey on kids and the uninformed i have no idea how he can function. or whats the next for him. alex mahan is the worst developer there has ever been for being all of those things and because he does not even want to release a game. with a lot of video game scams, you can at least see some passion or a desire to finish the game while also stalling a bit. but most scams get released, even as buggy messes as a last ditch effort. alex has no such ambitions. he was creating a scam ever since the game got popular. this game is never coming out.
this has been waifu_png_pl. 1056 words. my new record!

Inside the online cult of #JusticeforSSR The story of three men united by their fever-pitch resentment towards Rhea Chakraborty, and their anger and grief at the death of a Bollywood star.
A picture posted on a popular Facebook group shows actor Rhea Chakraborty next to a coronavirus illustration. “Which virus is more dangerous?” shouts the text on the image. The caption says: “2020 worst year in the history of mankind. The two most dangerous virus against humanity.”
The Facebook group in question is called “Justice for Sushant Singh Rajput”. With over one lakh followers, it’s peppered with posts hashtagged #ArrestRheaChakraborty and #IAmSushant.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
“She should be hanged,” said Singh Dheeraj, one of the group’s five administrators. “But then again, in our country, it took very long for even Afzal Guru or Yakub Memon to be hanged..."
Dheeraj is a final-year engineering student in Faridabad. He agreed to talk to me over a Facebook Messenger call only after he confirmed that I’m a “nationalist”. “I’m against anti-nationalism,” he told me. About being one of the admins of the Facebook group, he said, chuckling: “I have not told my parents or friends. They will think that I am not focusing on my studies.”
For a nation obsessed with Bigg Boss**, viewers no longer need to wait for an episode to be shot and aired. A version of this reality show, well-known for its voyeuristic appeal, plays out all day, every day, on social media and TV news screens. Ever since actor Sushant Singh Rajput died in June, the saga that followed has unfolded on our screens, and the past month has been particularly binge-worthy.**
In a profile by the New York Times in June, talk show host Jon Stewart said, “Twenty-four-hour news networks are built for one thing, and that’s 9/11. There are very few events that would justify being covered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So in the absence of urgency, they have to create it.”
And this is exactly what’s happened following Rajput’s death. Except this isn’t a movie — Chakraborty cannot take off her make-up and go home at the end of the day. Instead, she’s been thrust into a real-life trial by the media, where everyone watching, from national television anchors to quiet college-going students, has turned jurist.
In the process, Chakraborty has been torn apart by leading TV news channels, which demand her arrest, accuse her of “black magic” , camp out outside her building, pass off conspiracy theories as “news”, and conduct “postmortems” of Rajput himself. Republic’s Arnab Goswami screaming about drugs is only surpassed by Times Now’s Navika Kumar breathlessly running into the studio claiming to have a bag full of incriminating documents.
“It isn’t that Arnab or Navika don’t know what they’re doing,” said Pratik Sinha, founder of fact-checking site Alt News**. “They know exactly what and why they go on camera for. They have people to please.”**
Instead, it’s worth asking why young men and women like Dheeraj, who have never met either Rajput or Chakraborty, suddenly find themselves dedicating hours to administering Facebook groups that seek “justice for Sushant”.
For this, I spoke to three men – Saahil Chaudhary, an aspiring actomodel; Surjeet Singh Rathore, a member of the Karni Sena, a caste Hindu group; and Dheeraj. What links them is their fever-pitch resentment towards Chakraborty, and their anger and grief at the death of a Bollywood star.

Humans of #ArrestRheaChakraborty

Over the course of lengthy conversations, I asked all the three men where they found their conviction to convict Rhea Chakraborty.
Singh Dheeraj
Dheeraj hadn’t been a big fan of Rajput; what drew him was the fact that Rajput, like himself, was also from Bihar and managed to make it big in Bollywood.
For Dheeraj, the logic is fairly simple as to why he believes that Rajput was murdered, and did not die by suicide.
“How can they suddenly call him crazy now?” he said, possibly referring to reports on Rajput’s mental health. “It must have something to do with the fact that Rhea was living with him, right?”
This is a popular theory. Rajput’s therapist broke confidentiality last month and said the actor had depression and bipolar disorder. While the therapist also said Chakraborty was his “strongest support”, Rajput’s family has claimed that he “started having mental problems” after Chakraborty “came into his life”.
When I asked Dheeraj what kind of changes he thinks Chakraborty brought into Rajput’s life, he paused and came up with this anecdote, which he said is tied to the idea of an “ideal home”.
“Agar Salman [Khan] ki girlfriend ya wife aur Salman ke beech scene hua, toh kiska chalega? Salman ka hi chalega. Aur jabki yahan par Sushant aur Rhea ke sath jo scene hua, usme kiska chala tha? Rhea ka chala tha,” he said. (If something happens between Salman Khan and his girlfriend or wife, who will win? Salman will. And here, if something happened between Sushant and Rhea, who used to win? Rhea used to.)
But why did he think Chakraborty was controlling Rajput? Dheeraj brought up how Chakraborty tried to “change” Rajput’s staff members and friends.
“She had things to hide...look how she was acting with Mahesh Bhatt,” he said. “Was it correct of her to behave that way when she was with Sushant? Anyway, I am a nationalist, I am anti-Bollywood, anti-Rhea and anti-all these drugs and alcohol she used to do.” He refused to elaborate further.
This feeds into the image of Chakraborty constructed by the mainstream media. Photos of her posing on a beach in swimwear, or videos of her working out in sportswear are repeatedly shown during panel discussions, suggesting to viewers, like Dheeraj, that she’s some sort of promiscuous, gold-digging seductress with no “morality” or “culture”.
After some hesitation, he admitted that he believes Chakraborty deserves capital punishment, though he was quick to add: “Justice should be achieved but not hanging. Anyway in our country it was already difficult to hang people like Yakub Memon or Afzal Guru so obviously she cannot be hanged...but she should be punished...Women are like goddesses for me.”
Dheeraj didn’t watch Dil Bechara**, the movie starring Rajput that released after the latter’s death, because he was juggling between his studies and the Facebook group. He also spends a large part of his day “counselling” women, he said. “Him [Rajput] going away has caused a lot of sadness to many girls,” he explained. “I send them videos...I try to make them understand.”**
Saahil Chaudhary
Not far from Dheeraj, in the same state of Haryana, Saahil Chaudhary took to his YouTube channel on August 27, minutes after Chakraborty gave her first television interview to Rajdeep Sardesai on Aaj Tak.
Wearing a fitted white t-shirt and a neatly shaped beard, Chaudhary folded his hands and addressed his two lakh followers: “Somebody please hammer Rajdeep Sardesai’s head.” He spewed expletives against Chakraborty — zaleel aurath, haram ki bachhi and madarchodd ki bachhi being some of them — while his followers echoed his views gleefully in the comments section below, calling Chakraborty a “prostitute” and a “lady Dawood”.
This video received over 2.85 lakh views on YouTube.
Chaudhary has been busy for the last few months, providing daily updates on the investigation into Rajput’s death. He posted his first video on June 17, two days after Rajput died, telling his viewers that it was his “duty” to “expose the dirty secrets of Bollywood”.
In the video, Chaudhary claimed to have met Rajput “four or five times”. “He was such a gentleman, so kind-hearted. Today, I’m not going to spare anyone.” Since then, Chaudhary has uploaded 48 similar videos. According to him, Chakraborty must be arrested at once and the powerful in Bollywood should be shamed.
Importantly, when I spoke to Chaudhary, he denied having ever met the actor. During our conversation, his own frustrations at not being able to “make it big” in Bollywood were evident. “Out of lakhs of people, one got a chance and he became a star, but then you killed him?” he said. “What the fuck? You murdered him?”
Chaudhary runs a gym in Haryana, and has been trying to make it as an actor and model for over 10 years. Unable to be cast even as the friend of the hero, he started to explore YouTube to make himself more visible, he said. From cooking videos to workout videos to health tips and now the Rajput case, he feels like he’s finally found a platform to gain some stardom.
Although, he added, none of his videos on YouTube are monetised. Chaudhary has over two lakh subscribers on his channel. His most-watched video, with over two million views, is regarding who Chakraborty is dating.
When I asked him for the source of his information to declare Chakraborty guilty, Chaudhary said that people sent him articles and photos that he “verifies using logic”. After this “verification”, he concluded: “Rhea is hiding facts and is involved in the murder.” During the course of our chat, he also claimed that Chakraborty is a “gold-digger” who was having an affair with director Mahesh Bhatt.
So, what would he tell Chakraborty if he ever met her? “I don’t want to talk to her,” he replied. “I will simply do what the entire public wants to do: uske kaan ke neeche bajaunga main. I will give her a tight slap. I am sure that when this happens, the public will be satisfied. With this one slap, Sushant Singh’s parents and sisters will be at peace.”
Surjeet Singh Rathore
YouTube is Chaudhary’s platform of choice, but Surjeet Singh Rathore came into the limelight when he appeared on Arnab Goswami’s primetime show on Republic Bharat on August 21.
The show was hashtagged #WhySorryRhea, and Rathore was introduced as an “eyewitness” who was reportedly present when Chakraborty saw Rajput’s body at the Cooper Hospital mortuary. According to Rathore, Chakraborty “confessed” to her crime then; she placed her hand on her chest and said, “Sorry, babu.”
“Why is she saying sorry? Was she involved?” Rathore asked Goswami, who took long, dramatic pauses and repeatedly asked Rathore to describe Chakraborty’s demeanour.
Rathore is a member of the Karni Sena, a Rajput group. When I spoke to him on the telephone, he said he was in Rajasthan, the Karni Sena’s home state, from where he would “speak the truth”. After appearing on Republic, he claimed, Mumbai became “unsafe” for him. “I am not scared,” he added. “If something happens to me or Kangana Ranaut, Karni Sena poori Hindustan mein aag lagaenge. The Karni Sena will set fire to the whole of India.”
What does that mean? He replied, “Don’t you remember our Padmavat movement?”
Here’s a quick refresher: In 2017, the Karni Sena led a violent campaign against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Padmavat, claiming it tarnished the reputation of Rajputs and misappropriated history. Before the movie was released, Karni Sena workers vandalised the film set, slapped the director, trashed a theatre playing the movie’s trailer, threatened to cut off actor Deepika Padukone’s nose and behead Padukone and Bhansali, moved petitions to ban the film, and received support from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The group eventually retreated when Padmavat was released, saying there was, after all, “nothing objectionable” in the film.
Rathore told me he had once spoken to Sushant Singh Rajput on the phone when the Padmavat incident occurred, to tell Rajput not to support Bhansali. Apart from that, they’ve never met, though he met Chakraborty once, according to him, at the mortuary. As he explained to Goswami, he apparently went to the mortuary to see Sushant as a fellow Rajput.
Why is Rathore so involved in this case?
“I am a Rajput. I am a member of the Karni Sena. Sushant was also a Rajput, it’s my right to be involved,” Rathore replied.

https://preview.redd.it/wm3qahsmxjl51.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=903f5fd4d47e5f1181c3b15c834f0b47adc92bdd
When he left the mortuary, he said, Aaj Tak spoke to him but the interview never aired. So, Rathore approached Arnab Goswami who helped him “bring the news to the world”. Rathore added that Chakraborty must be arrested “as soon as possible” on the basis of her saying “Sorry, babu” to Rajput’s body.
In his post-Republic days, Rathore spends his time answering “calls from all across the country, mostly from my supporters and from TV channels”. He has a girlfriend but he quickly said, “Woh Rhea jaisi nahi hai.” She is not like Rhea.
Currently, Rathore’s Facebook page, which has over 21,000 followers, is filled with posts seeking justice for Rajput, Rathore’s TV interviews, and pictures from his time in Jaipur. One photo shows him standing on a terrace, arms extended, with the caption: “For success in life...you need two things...Ignorance and confidence...❤️ My Jaipur.”

Politics to the Right

Through the course of my conversations with these men, it became apparent that what irritated them the most was Chakraboty’s alleged infidelity. As men, they seemed to empathise with the pain Rajput might have gone through of loving a “morally corrupt woman”.
Apart from that, the other common thread was their tendency to be aligned with the Right. However, only Dheeraj openly proclaimed his support for the BJP; both Rathore and Chaudhary said this issue isn’t political.
Dheeraj’s affinity towards the Right came forward in our conversation when he asked me if I had worked as a reporter during the citizenship law protests, and what I felt about BJP leader Kapil Mishra’s role. Mishra had made an incendiary speech in February targeting the protesters against the Citizenship Amendment Act, and the Delhi riots followed soon after, leaving over 50 dead.
When I told him that no matter what side I’m on, violence is not the way out, he said, “Violence for religion is justifiable. There are Muslims living in my lane. Tomorrow if they block the road, there is a limit to how long one can wait for the police before taking action himself.”
He also brought up Asifa Bhano, the eight-year-old who was raped and murdered in Jammu in 2018. “Why is that when Asifa, that Muslim child, was raped in a temple in Jammu, all Bollywood celebrities came out and shamed the country?” he said. “What about Hindu women? I am not saying they should not speak about the injustice against Asifa, I’m just saying you cannot internationally shame your country. These celebrities, they are not with us Hindus. They are not with the country.”
Dheeraj, Chaudhary and Rathore all agreed that the only journalists currently doing his job correctly is Arnab Goswami. Dheeraj added that he’s a fan of Zee News’ Sudhir Chaudhary and Aaj Tak’s Anjana Om Kashyap — both of whom are also known for their proclivity towards the BJP.

Lack of moderation of hate content

After these chats, I went through 15 Facebook pages dedicated to fighting for “justice” for Rajput, which has now become synonymous with arresting Chakraborty. These pages are managed by 35 admins in total, of which 20 seemed to have authentic profiles on Facebook, three were clearly fake, three were aliases, and nine I couldn’t tell.
I identified fake profiles based on the fact that they had no personal or authentic pictures. The profile images were either pictures of Rajput or representational images, the friends list was limited, and there was no personal information like place of work.
There was no consistent pattern to be established between the profiles, apart from their support for Rajput, love for Goswami, and hate towards Chakraborty. Some had a history of hateful, communal posts, or far-Right posts, some had posts critical of the government, and others had almost no political posts at all.
Here’s a sample of the sort of hate spewed against Chakraborty.

https://preview.redd.it/00bszhxvxjl51.png?width=1276&format=png&auto=webp&s=45dd3360f3a054ab86167b592817027ec78c7bed
In the background of this venom is the fact that Facebook India has been facing tough questions in recent weeks over its propensity to ignore hate speech. A Wall Street Journal piece reported on Facebook’s soft approach to posts inciting violence by members of the BJP, although the social media giant has robust policies for the same — on paper, at least.
It doesn’t take much to notice that most of the pages I surveyed violate multiple regulations and standards set by Facebook, especially with regards to hate speech, bullying and harassment , and violence and incitement. Nevertheless, most of them have been online for over six weeks, and continue to garner a massive following and rapid engagement.

The news and us

So, let’s return to this question: What does the Sushant Singh Rajput case reveal about us?
It’s a vile but immensely sustainable, and successful, ecosystem, and I reached out to Alt News’ Pratik Sinha to learn more. Alt News has largely kept away from reporting on the news coverage of Rajput’s death.
As Sinha said: “I can bust facts, not gossip.”
News has now entered the realm of gossip, Sinha said, which is rooted in “mudslinging and rumour-mongering”. “Gossip is addictive. I don’t know what to bust in this bizarre case...Initially it looked like this incident was used as a campaign strategy for the upcoming Bihar election, but right now? It has somehow gained a life of its own. Where should one draw the line between freedom of speech and freedom of life?”
Sinha described the viral nature of this “news” as “coordinated inauthentic behaviour”.
A coordinate effort at hate often has two motives, financial or political. In the circus surrounding Rajput’s death, it’s impossible to pinpoint either with clarity. For the many young people involved, Sinha said, being able to earn instant recognition is motive enough.
“For example, maybe for this boy Dheeraj, if not for this case he might not have had women coming up and talking to him,” he said. “Now this may seem frivolous but for him, this must be life-changing.”
What forms a narrative, Sinha explained, is the size of the body that sustains it. Leading channels like Republic and Zee News serve up content that is religiously shared by these Facebook pages. So, who is the trigger: the public, or the news? Has social media ensured that if there’s enough public outrage, news organisations will have to take notice? Or do news channels, in their race for TRPs, produce content tailormade to appeal to the nation’s imagination?
It’s a chicken-and-egg situation, so it’s impossible to accurately answer.
For those without financial or political ambitions, this case seems to have given them a sense of purpose, or “social currency”, as Sinha called it. Dheeraj told me that apart from support, he also receives threats from Shahrukh Khan or Aamir Khan fans. Does that scare him? He immediately and excitedly replied, “No, no, not at all. Maybe it will be good if something big happens with me.”
When it comes to news channels, no matter what came first, media houses ensured that the story stayed alive. In the last month alone, there were four child rapes in New Delhi and a rise in caste- and gender-based violence in Uttar Pradesh. The economy is down, the unemployment rate is up, floods and monsoons have displaced thousands, and the ongoing pandemic claims hundreds of lives every day.
Yet all of this takes a backseat when compared to the Rajput case. Has the case become a distraction from the very real social and cultural fears that we face? As Orwell once said, “Unpopular ideas can be silenced, and inconvenient facts kept dark, without the need for any official ban.”
On Facebook allowing such content to thrive, Sinha said: “Content moderation is most often a business decision. If you take down a post or page that has over one lakh followers, then it means you lose that many eyeballs, which then means you lose that many people looking at advertisements. And that’s where the money flows in for these platforms. So most often, these policies are only written down, not implemented.”
In the last decade, two media trials stand out: the Aarushi murder case and the death of Sunanda Pushkar. Neither found a satisfying judicial conclusion. Trials by the media don’t happen impulsively, Sinha pointed out. “Every day, we scratch our heads as to what is happening today. But it isn’t like we were fine yesterday or the day before, right?” he said.
And ultimately, no matter the outcome of the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the biggest reveal by the media is what this case has exposed when it comes to our society.

2020.09.06 10:58 Yoo_Tu Bitcoin! What it is!?

This material is published using the PII algorithm (point information impact) developed by zitramon1

Bitcoin is the lowest projection of the energy standard of the Higher Plans Erzanil and has nothing to do with money or cryptocurrencies. In its primary principle, bitcoin was intended to replace the modern banking credit monetary system to SES — the system of energy-informational-energy settlements / mutual settlements. Unfortunately, something went wrong.
Money is a deadly virus that in the past destroyed the vast majority of ancient highly developed civilizations of our planet. Our civilization is no exception. The real Bitcoin, which was supposed to replace the existing bank credit monetary system with a system of energy settlements, as well as countless times in the past, was successfully destroyed.
At the moment, bitcoin is deprived of its basic qualities. But, nevertheless, even in such a “truncated” form it is a powerful tool for terraforming the existing paradigm of the material world.
At the level of society or the manifested physical world, represented by the third dimension, Bitcoin is the Standard and Measure from which any Countdown starts, and which are the basis of all Principles. Bitcoin itself is not only composed of pure energy, but also itself is energy in the very purest form.
Our world is energy-informational. Everything that exists in this Universe and in this Dimension, as well as in many other dimensions, is the same Energy, but in its various states. And the state of Vibration of this energy, providing one or another level of its Density, just decides how it will manifest in our Reality. Matter is the compressed energy of slow vibration. In fact, bitcoin is the equivalent of energy, of which everything around us consists, including — and we are with you!
The tragedy of the majority is that it does not understand the true purpose of Bitcoin — it is that Measure of everything and everything from which the entire Countdown comes. Not the price of Bitcoin should be modeled in dollars, gold or parrots — which is absolutely equivalent, but the value of all other attributes of society in bitcoins!
The fractality of Bitcoin, as the foundation of any of the Worlds in which you are located, is reflected in its essence: at low-frequency levels, its projection represents two diverse anu combined in a single whole. It is this explosive-implosive particle that combines two opposites, and not some mythical atoms, quanta, neutrinos, and similar nonsense, is the basis of everything!
Not Satoshi is the smallest part of bitcoin, but a double anu or argo! Remember the catch phrase that personifies the synonym of all the great Beginnings — “like the Argonauts in the old days” !? Try to guess the first time about its origins, located on a subconscious level.
The mining process itself is nothing more than a manifestation of the lower projections of the energy standard of the higher planes of erzanil. The latter are “materialized” at the level of the third dimension or society in the form of bitcoins. During mining, the three main types of energy: electrical energy, the thermal energy of the video card / device itself and the energy that the programmer potentiated into the mining process itself, are converted into energy to fill the shells of bitcoins generated during the hashing process. This energy is stored in every bitcoin forever and will increase until the last block of the last bitcoin is fully mined.
This energy, which is potentialized in bitcoin, which can neither be felt nor touched, is what you get with bitcoin and / or any part of it !!! And in the future, invest it / Bitcoin, exchange, buy, change, etc. etc.
And it is this energy, in the future, that will serve as an evaluation standard for the value of all things.
The smallest part of bitcoin is not Satoshi, but Argo or the double Anu. One argo is one in minus twenty-first degree part of bitcoin, and its energy potential corresponds to one in minus twenty-first degree of it, bitcoin, the maximum possible energy content.
The entire energy potential of 21 million bitcoins determines the energy / energy-information capacity = energy / energy-information potential of the sephira Malkut of the Tree of life (Kabbalah) or the manifest physical world at the level of the third dimension.
In other words, all people including you and me, to some extent consist of bitcoins and represent its integral and composition parts! More confirmation of this:
https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=WO2020060606&tab=PCTBIBLIO
Calculations / mutual settlements by bitcoins are possible not only at the level of society / third dimension, but also on higher planes — astral and mental, since bitcoin is not an equivalent but pure energy and this makes subsequent contacts with more advanced forms of life possible other systems!
THAT’S WHAT IS THE ESSENCE OF BITCOIN!
